What yields more damage DW or 2h as a switch from 1h/shield

Trying to figure out what would be better for pure stam dps to use when not being attacked? This would be on a stam NB build.

Which ever set up gives you the most weapon damage, which most of the time is DW. I would also look at what passives your using to, for example, a NB benefits from DW more so than 2H with regards to things like Critical Chance. You may want to give up a little amount of damage in order to preserve some passives.

PerSonally I prefer 2 hander but duel wield does do a little more damage and that will increase with the next big patch where duel wield will get a skill that adds major brutality buff. 2 hander is just a little more robust.

Generally I'd say dw for the superior AoE. I run 1h/s and 2H for the rally heal while tanking though. Still have my DW leveled, steel tornado is just that good for burning down large groups.

They each have a different focus. Two handed excels at single-target damage, and will easily surpass dual wield in that regard. Nothing dual wield has can compare to even basic wrecking blow spam.
Dual wield, on the other hand, is the king of AoE damage among melee characters. Two handed can survive more damage in aoe situations, but dual wield stomps all over 2h for aoe damage output.

At the moment, my nightblade uses both - 2h for single target, dual wield on the second bar for multi-target/aoe.

What he said. Don't let the higher numbers fool you about DW; Flurry takes time to use, Wrecking Blow just, well, wrecks.

Im a dw-2h dk nord. I use 2h in main bar and dw in the second for aoe.
I think steel tornado eats too much stam. It is a great skill but cmon...they need to adjust the stam requirements.
If I was a redguard or templar it would be dif. Maybe the problem is being nord. But hey..Ive always been a nord in TES game.

I have 5 hunding and 3 slayer. I was gonna buy morag but with vr16 coming it would be a waste.

wep damage in my case goes from 25O0 to 3200. Average 2h dps is about 8-9 with crits of 12-14. Well sometimes 16 but rarely.

I have just 140 cp but stam builds with 300-400 are almost flawles. And more if you are imperial.

Funny,I am a redguard templar and having used both I still find steep tornado a bit to stamina hungry for my taste.

As a nightblade I use power extraction until enemies are at least at half health, then switch to steel tornado spam. Until execute range, steel tornado isn't very efficient.
