So I must ask. Why no trading on the forums?

I'm not arguing that its wrong, right, or should or shouldn't be allowed. I am simply curious as to the reasoning is all.

Why is it there is no trade on here?

I always assumed it was to stop the forums being swamped.

Well, there could always be a support section for it if there were the case.

I'm sure the devs have their reasoning, my curiosity is simply piqued as to it.

think it will be a moot point when consoles get optional txt chat. In the mean time I have heard of other sites offering this service.

Spammers and gold farmers would storm the forums in large numbers and even though the forums are invite only they still would have trouble keeping up

i dont know the actual reasons why but two things springs to mind

    1) the legal ramification of doing so - if people use real money in trade and someone gets riped off what recourse to the law does someone have and to what laws and of which land

    2) the work needed to police a trade website has gota be more then they are willing to put in, carnt say i blame them tbh

I thought this but surely the same rules would apply if someone got scammed in game.

My theory is that having a Trading section on these forums would threaten the existence of Trading Guilds. That and I'm not sure the forums could handle all the traffic it would bring. Still, unless you get into a few good Trading Guilds with active guild stores and maybe a guild trader, it's really hard to sell a variety of different things to other players (unless you enjoy spending hours in zone chat talking to whoever will listen). I think trading might be easier if either the guild member cap was raised or the number of guilds you could join was increased. Text chat is also a possible solution.

i dont know but i presume there's something in the TOS that covers in game sales, and the fact that your not trading with real money -
yes you can buy gold with real world coin but its no longer real money that could be spent at the corner shop -
so im guessing that makes a big difference but could be wrong ?

in the same way though on the forums you would be trading with in game gold nominally as in game there is nothing preventing you other than tos in game from asking for real world currency the same as on the forums.
