Dual Wielding Question

LawyerLarry
If you have 2 weapons of varying strengths, should you put your more powerful weapon in your main hand, or does it matter?

It doesn't matter whether it's Main or Off-hand.

Main hand. Your off-hand weapon does less damage, but there is a passive you can take to help even it out. Also, some dual wield skills hit with the weapon in your main hand and proc the enchant on the main weapon, and some dual wield skills hit with the off-hand weapon first and proc the enchant on the off-hand weapon.

In all other rpg's/mmo's you would always put best DPS in main hand. Dont know if it matters here but..i would still stick with that formula.

The enchantment on main hand weapon tends to trigger more often than the enchantment on the offhand(it runs out of charges much faster). Other than that, i don't think it matters.

It's not random, it depends on the skill. I've tested this many, many times. The dual wield skill Flurry only procs the enchant on the primary weapon and will never proc the enchant on the off-hand weapon. The dual wield skill Twin Slashes only procs the enchant on the off-hand weapon and will never proc the enchant on the primary weapon.

I did not mean to imply it is random, only that the mainhand procs more often in general (judged simply by how fast it runs out of charges compared to the offhand during everyday use).

Sub question then, does each enchantment have its own icd? IE: Can you get an OH proc using twin fangs directly after getting a MH proc from a HA?

    No, it's a global cooldown.

what's the nominal penalty to off-hand dmg?

I have the passives to increase off-hand dmg, but what is the reduction without?
