I did t hire that hireling, was it a different character?

I have multiple characters, so receive multiple emails of supplies being delivered.

Just noticed last night that when playing one of my characters who doesn't have any hirelings, that I recieved email with goods.

Are hirelings character based or account based?

To receive mails, you have to log in with the character who unlocked hirelings. However, once received, the mails stay in your inbox and can be opened with another character. Maybe this is what happened? You forgot to open the mail and relogged?

I have a few characters I only play when particular friends are online. So they will be standing at the stables and I will often just quickly log them on for some horse riding training, then log out of them. Maybe that's it?

Do touchable to log in every 24 hrs to renew the hireling, or if I leave a character for a week, he gets a weeks worth of supplies?

You have to log in to receive the stuffs. I left for a weekend and when I logged in on Monday I only got that days loot, not the 4 days I was away.
