A friend of mine is considering moving to Ecuador and I'm wondering how good the Internet is there, so I have a few questions, if someone could please help.
First, in Cuenca, for example, can you get cable internet or phone-line internet? What download speeds are possible? 30Mps, if you pay?
Also, are there people who speak English (she doesn't speak Spanish) at any provider who can help her with problems? Are there outages frequently, and if so for how long?

This article is very interesting. Besides the things mentioned there, location within the country is important as well. Lines will only be available at the well-populated area's. In the more outback area's you might have mobile internet (gsm-based) or need to depend on satelite.Through me you pass into the city of woe:
