Other than mixing the different food items and spices together to form potions. What else are they good for. More specially, food. I read in the game that it helps increase your health, but temporarily right?

How else can you increase your health permanently besides with skill points and enchanting your armor?

I am a complete noob to this world. I love it so much because it reminds me of Phantasy Star Online (#Throwback)

Provisioning items (all the food-like ingredients) can be crafted to make food or drink. You have to know recipes and then gather the correct ingredients. The higher recipes will need skill points into provisioning to be able to make them. Food can increase your maximum health/stam/mag. Depending on what recipes you have you could make some that increase just one stat, two stats, or all three stats.

Alchemy (all the plants/flowers you find on the ground) potions can be crafted for just about anything. You can combine different plants with a water source and make different leveled potions. These can be very helpful later on in the game. This site can probably help you a little more and you can use it to create different potions and see what they can do.

    Hope that helps.

Oh, there's also a mundus stone called "The Lord" that can increase maximum health.

Will this temporarily increase the health or permanently? Also how do we increase the "revcovery" for stamina, magicka and health lol

Food will temporarily buff your max health/magicka/stam stat(s) for a period of time in between 30 minutes to 2 hours I believe. Drinks will buff your regeneration for a specific stat(s) in between 30 minutes to 2 hours. The lord mundus stone will increase your max health permanently until you replace it with a different mundus stone.

At this time, you can only have one drink or food buff active at a time, not both.

I always thought it was odd that you can only have either a food or a drink buff running.

When I have a meal, I generally have food and a drink at the same time.
