Perfect Roe: How Do You Know?

I started using up some of the bait I have been collecting. This weekend I caught a little less than a 100 fish and fileted them all. Did not see any Roe. However, I get back to town and go to the bank, and there in my inventory was a Perfect Roe. Neat. Expect I never saw it as I was out cleaning the fish. Did I just miss something or is this how it works? Meaning there is no indicator on screen and I just have to look in inventory to see if I have any.

Also, do you think the chance to get this stuff improves if you clean a large stack or just keep cleaning the smaller stacks as you go? In this case I was cleaning 10 to 15 fish at at time. Based on how Gold Tempers drop from Refining, I don't think it would matter.

When you get Perfect Roe there's a golden yellow particle effect around your character and a sound is played. I'm pretty sure the size of the stack you clean doesn't matter in the end but of course the more you clean the more chances the RNG will roll in your favor. In about a month I've gotten four Perfect Roe, one the first three weeks then three this past week...just seems very random.

I did hear a sound when cleaning one of the fish. Never noticed a glow. I popped into inventory but did not see it. Must have had a filter on the inventory or something. At least now if I hear that sound again, I will know there is success.

That's OK, I have 5 recipe fragments and can't find the last two. Got one this morning and it is a dup of what I already have. I will try to trade it tonight.

Yeah, there is a sparkling gold effect when you get one. I filet my fish after clearing out each spot. Saw this right away when I got my first one. If you were cleaning out the full stack of 100, you may have just missed it.

I was just doing two fishing holes worth at at time, so maybe 15 fish each time.

Have you ever noticed that Green and Blue fish just irk you now? I think, great, that is bait wasted when I get one....

Almost 600 here and one Perfect Roe. Oddly enough, no imperfect roe.

I have taken to just selling the fish in the guild store instead of trying to find Perfect Roe.

Yeah, very distinctive animation when you get a Roe, you must have just missed it. As to whether it's better to do large stacks or small ones, I seem to have better luck with small ones. It's all RNG, but the few times I did large stacks I got no Roe. I've gotten 10 or so from small stacks.

This is typically what it looks likes when you get a perfect row. It happens real quick though, but with the amount of Lag Spikes and FPS drops in this game it is real easy to miss.

I usually like to do a few hundred fish at the same time since it takes so darned long to fish and stuff, if I am not feeling up to any serious play, I just go fish.

Just did a batch of 160 fish, no Perfect Roe. That's over 600 fish now and Nada

I was in the same dang RNG as you..then I put the fish in the guild bank and filleted them on a different character (in this case an imperial) I finally got one from about 80 fish.

I still haven't had a fragment drop, but I have plenty of perfect roe. My best result was when I'd caught just 8 fish - the first gave a roe... and then the fifth did too

We'll actually be adding a small notification on your screen when you obtain Perfect Roe so you'll know for sure. This will be coming with the Imperial City update.
