For some reason the quests won't show up. I have tried going inside and outside the mages guild and talking to the npc's there and still nothing.

Which mage's guild are you going into? The one in the zone that you started out in?

You need to go to the next zone to get the next set of quests.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Should I try going to every single mages guild?

Okay, go to your achievements tab, and check your mage guild progression (it should be Character -> Guilds, off the top of my head). It should have five quests. You need to tell us which one you're currently on, and what your current level is.

Have you done any of the quests for this guild yet, or are you having trouble getting it started?

Currently level 37 and I finished the first quest long lost lore.

I'm assuming you don't have any active quests for the guild, right now?

No. Should I try all the mages guilds in my alliance (daggerfall)?

It isn't broken I just finished it last week. You skipped something so we need to know exactly which part you did last.

OK. If you have finished only Long Lost Lore (and you are DC) your next quest is picked up at the Mages Guild in Wayrest

I had this bug for both the MAGES GUILD and FIgHTERS GUILD on the console....

Basically I had skipped doing them and moved on to new areas. the map pointer would point at the guildhall in the local town I was in, but there person or portal would be missing.

The fix is to go to your quest... and ABANDON the quest. Within a few seconds if yer outside a runner will appear, and you'll get the quest update and location.

I went to wayrest and I found both the arch mage and valaste. None of them are offering me a quest but valaste says, "Welcome, adept. I've deciphered the spell inside the book. Are you prepared for sheigorath's first test?" However all I can say is Goodbye and nothing happens.

I abandoned the quest a while back and then went on to new areas. Nothing is showing up when I go back to the guild hall.

Is there a portal that you can activate? If so, activate it, and you will be sent to where you need to go.

Where would the portal be? There is none in the guild hall that I can see. Also I don't have a mages guild quest because I abandoned it.

I believe what happened was I had abandoned the quest without completing it.

They are right next to her, and white in color and make a noise, pretty hard to miss.

OK, then you need to leave the zone you are in and go back to the first zone, walk around the mages guild in the first city (note, if this is Auridon, this could be Vulkhel Guard or Skywatch) if no one from the mages accosts you, then go to the second zone main town. No one accosts you go to the third, but they should not accost you there.

If the quests do not start up, then do a full power down on the console to clear the cache, and reload the game and try the above again. Basically, you get each stage of the MG quests from the Mages Guild. Does not have to be the Mages Guild in the city, I got one of the quests from an outpost mages guild.

Look for some old guy or young woman that wants your attention and speak to them.

If this does not work, then open a ticket with customer support. Although, I will say that I once did not get any MG quests for a couple of days and I was at the correct level, so that could be something to keep in mind.

I had accepted the quest in the second zone mages guild but I guess I abandoned it right after I started it. I have tried many mages guilds in daggerfall and none have given me the quest again.
