Seriously though, please add it, should be simple enough!

Just press number lock to toggle auto run, then hold the ctrl key down.

An actual auto sprint would be useless as your stam would run out and you would be walking anyway

Pretty sure keys are programmable, though I've never looked for a locking sprint toggle.

Not in the in-game options. Have to macro with keyboard progs if you want this "feature."

    Not by me.

Just saying on a post "Its been asked for by the community" does not make this actually true.

Press numberlock and hold crtrl, simples. Very usefull on horse back in the Cryo golf course

It can be fatiguing when putzing around Cyrodiil by horse for hours on end.

I have arthritis in my hands and it does cause me some pain holding down the sprint key - I often get left behind in Cyrodil because of it.

@Epona222 A previous co-worker in the office had bad arthritis. She had some sort of brace that was supposed to assist with that. Do you have anything like that to assist?

PS. I would macro in a toggle to tap for this usage in your scenario.

You may need a third-party application that facilitates continued sprinting then.

Maybe it's different on PC, or already patched a while back, but currently on PS4 you can essentially sprint forever on a mount, regardless of your stamina level.

Of course it depends, because if you go over a small jump or anything that interrupts the sprint then you would have to "reset" so to speak, but yeah you can run around with infinite stamina on PS4 on a mount.

All Horses will Sprint past their Stamina Pool. What Stamina does on a horse is prevent you from being knocked off. If you have a pool of Stamina, you can take some hits before you are de-horsed.

Then I stand corrected, out of interest, what's the point of having a stamina pool if a mount is still able to keep sprinting when the pool is depleted.

Seems like a poor design to me.

So a player need not hold down a button on a console controller to maintain sprint?

You click L3 and hold it in, however once clicked you don't really need to hold the button all the way in, your thumb can sort of rest on it & keep sprinting if that makes sense.

Because Stamina on a horse has nothing to do with Sprinting. It is about getting past an enemy and staying on the horse. This can serve you tactically by allowing you to get to the battle quicker in PvP. Where as the other team will try to unhorse you to slow you down. So you conserve your resource that keeps you on the horse until you need it in battle. Or you use it up to get to the battle with the increased risk of not getting there in time if you get knocked off.

They should have called it Resilience or something else. However since the horse's Stamina Regen is keyed to the player, I guess they called it what they did.

Ah, okay. So the player still has to hold pressure on a button of some kind.

Well, suppose that might be easier than holding down a key on the keyboard with my thumb.

Ok that's basically what I was going to say, why wasn't it renamed resilience because as was my original point, to me when you say stamina, you expect it to be a finite resource which directly impacts the mounts ability to sprint.

So essentially, another Zen, non-logical choice.

I think it probably feels more natural.

Sprinting has nothing on button mashing. Furthermore if you're afraid of developing arthritis from it though then perhaps you should not be playing video games...
