Combat, Crafting and Skill Points...

I just started playing this game and I am a bit lost. I heard people would create a character to use it as a crafter so they don't waste skill points on their fighter character. Can you end up with every crafting style maxed? (wood, metal, alchemy, enchanting, cooking, etc.)? Is it long and hard to build a master crafter? Worth it? I remember playing Skyrim, I wasn't using any if my perk points because I was scared to waste them. I'm the kind of player that take and keep everything I find "in case I need it later" and I am a little too much of a perfectionnist. I like doing achievements and there is not a single quest I skip. Anyone can put me on a track? Any advice to give me? I am a total beginner in big RPG such as The Elder Scrolls series. I don't enjoy when it is too big but since it is online, I think it is worth playing it.

I think I read that you end up with 236 skill points.

You can look at the skills and do the math. ;)

I recommend focusing on only 1 or 2 crafting professions until you have all the abilities and passives you want for combat. Eventually you will have enough to do most if not all of them.

you can max out every crafting skill (aka, hit level 50 with it)

but it's hard to get enough skill points to get every perk with it + get your passives/skills for combat and other stuff.

so, what people do is have a crafting alt that they use to make stuff.

it's worth noting you can respec, your points for gold (it's kinda expensive though)

my suggesting is to not worry about crafting too much outside of research, always be researching as many things as you can!

    You get around 306-308 points.

That is taking the PvP points and not missing out on quest line rewards and all skyshards.

With that being said you can max out about everything you would want as far as character wep/armor/spells and still be able to max out ONLY 3 craft lines before you will have to cut into the character skills.

Rumor is we will have around 5 more hen we get VR16 but I cannot confirm that as of right now, but I know for a fact you can get the 306

:Edit.. Wanted to add that after checking with a friend of mine he has 310 SP on his VR14 so I guess the thing is to make sure you do not miss out and skip the quest rewarding skil,l points as you level up.. Because if you miss them you cannot go back and get them.

i have a 2 tank ability bars, 2 melee dps bars, and 2 caster bars, with points in all the professions. there isnt a dire need to max out all the trade skills. while i do have a processor, it was more about having a character i stopped playing and figured id use his points for that for now.

if you want to do alchemy, you will ahve to have a fair amount of points for that. the others do have wiggle room.

also if you are leveling, i would level them with you as you level. i guarantee you will be respecing your skill points later anyways, so its nothing to worry greatly about. just focus on what you want to play as first, while putting focus on all the tradeskills, find which you like and which you don't and go from there while leveling. like someone above said.... you can get em all to 50, and i figured i might as well do it while i am leveling so i don't have to come back to it later. it also helps to be able to make your own gear, food, enchants and potions while leveling.

I will work. I will save. I will sacrifice. I will endure. I will fight cheerfully and do my utmost, as if the whole issue of the struggle depended on me alone.

I'm max at all crafting and still be a viable dps (primary role), or switch to healer or tank (secondary roles) when needed. I have all armor skills and all legerdemain skills. I have 286 skill points (and also confirmed by support that I am missing 4 skill points that should've been granted to me - they are working on a fix but I digress). Keep in mind that not all skills in crafting is required (i.e. keen eye and research can be bypassed if you don't need them).

So yes it is viable to fill various roles and still be max at crafting. I have 25 skill points left to distribute too.

It is possible to have maxed crafter and combat character in one toon but in the end it is inflexible. The hardest toon to make is top rank PvP, then comes maxed crafter. Easiest to do is maxlevel combat alt. I have retired my main to crafter and leveled up a copy to be combat alt.
