As a veteran MMO player who's left the PC MMO market behind (reasons given below) I just have to say OMG thank you! Thank you for having integrity even through a problematic launch, thank you for your design philosophy, thank you for not designing an MMO based on mobile app or facebook style microtransactions (especially one that's hidden behind a clever currency conversion system like dilithium or gem to gold coversion). Thank you for allowing thievery in your game! I cannot tell you how much fun that is! Thanks for allowing good items to come from looting even those items you get in the mail from your workers in crafting do well.

For combat I cannot tell you how much I love it that you can actually PLAN your attack! Gone are the days of the blast through everything nonsense, trapping, burst damage from stealth or trickery, stuns that make sense, traps that actually TRAP! You have no idea how long it's been (well you do if you're an MMO veteran) since we've seen these things in the MMO gaming market.

I also love how you've given us skill lines instead of limited classes. The notion that you are planning on adding new lines in the future excites me to no end! I love that it's diverse that you can test what you like and don't like and build your own character the way you want it.

Thank you for the diverse looks. I've yet to see anyone running around with the same exact cookie cutter weapon or armor on in towns or crafting zones even the Veterans.

I just watched a video today about how you designed Cyradiil and I have to say that this too is awesome. I didn't realize we could go there at such an early level and I had no idea that you had PVE content there that we could access early on! That is awesome! Thanks!

The reasons why I left the PC MMO market were directly due to the problems of the mobile market structure for progression, the idea that you have to spend real money to progress is a terrible idea because it limits rewards to such a degree that some people never receive loot that's worth it (considering the reason why people play MMOs is directly due to the reward psychology), combined with a limitation on combat that eliminates traps, stuns, and stealth or anything else cerebral to me is absolutely wrong. These are the main reasons why I left the PC MMO community, because that community allows these things without challenge or thought just because a game is popular.

I'm not kidding I haven't been this excited for an MMO for a long time. You have outdone yourselves. Thank you!

You do realize that ESO was made for PC first, and almost every Elder Scrolls title is solely for PC, right? Not quite sure if your thread is a troll, but your enthusiasm will wear off quickly.
Can't find the items you are looking for? Need a place to trade? We welcome ESO players of all platforms at ESO Trade, the home for trading of goods and services in the lands of Tamriel.

It is so nice to see someone appreciating the game, all I see lately is threads bashing it. To be fair, I am new to the game, but coming from FF14, (which is a grindfest) I LOVE this MMO. It reminds me of FF11 where you can log in, do whatever you like, not have this daily grind requirement just to keep up with the Joneses (hopefully end game isn't like that!) and just explore the zones.

From everything I've read and seen so far it looks like crafting is a good thing. :D People talk about veteran ranks I haven't learned what that's about yet but it seems to be promising.

    Oblivion - Xbox 360/PS3.
    Skyrim - Xbox 360/PS3.

I think all were better on Console, the only thing making PC better is the modding, still, i'd rather play in the comfort of my lounge room on a giant tv than hunched over a desk.

I love the game, too. As one of the posters above mentioned, the majority of people on the forums do nothing but complain. Most don't even seem to be familiar with other Elder Scrolls titles, as many complain about things that are a pivotal part of the series! It sometimes seems as if they just picked it up expecting it to be a duplicate of WoW or something.

I love how vast Cyrodiil is. It's an entire country (well, province), so it's nice to feel like I'm on an actual journey while I'm traversing the land.

Love the series, and love ESO.

I definitely keep my tower behind my couch and I play on the 60" while chilling on my recliner. Playing at a desk isn't a thing for me B)

OP, you posted exactly what I was thinking about doing. I love the game; quirks and all. No game is perfect but this is pretty damn fun.

Hm, yeah, if we only could connect a computer to 60" TV...

Anyway, at least some parts of the OP would pass for pretty sharp irony, especially where he praises ZOS for integrity (!!!) and not designing the game around RMT.

Are you inferring that you can't connect a pc to a big tv? You may not be able to, but rest assured... a pc can absolutely handle it.

I'm always amazed in this day and age that there's still people that don't have a PC hooked up to their tv. Even the "monitor" in my office is a big screen tv. I would still have to criticize ZoS for not including PC controller support, they don't even support the xBox PC controllers.

On topic: The game is not bad, but it never had much more than the veneer of an elder scrolls game. I haven't played too many MMOs, but I haven't found this game very MMOish. It's too difficult to group with friends unless you're all at the same stage of the game. If I had friends join now, I wouldn't be able to play with them until they reached high veteran ranks, or we chose to quest in Cyrodiil (a.k.a. gankerville). If an MMO is supposed to be "play with random anti-social self entitled strangers" as this experience seems to be, this will be my last MMO. Other than that it's not a bad game, but most of the aspects of the game that would seem to qualify it as an MMO don't seem very well done.

Most of what the OP has been praising ZoS for are Elder Scrolls staples. Thieving and skill lines instead of classes are fundamental components of previous TES games. Maybe they're well done compared to other MMOs, but they're not as well done as a single player TES game (I will admit these game aspects may be harder to implement in a game where there has to be some semblance of balance between players). Again, the game is not bad, but it does seem ZoS could make some minor technical improvements to these that would dramatically improve the fun of the game.

    I like this thread.

Yes there are things I don't like about ESO. But the fact that I'm still here. Still subbed. Still running two subs. After a Year, says I'm enjoying it.

As for questing with friends; yes, Cyrodiil is early on. Or you can group up and do as much of the lower level dude's quest as you can. Or once you find undaunted stuff, that is doable and redoable (just did a couple last night with friends - killing the last boss in Spindleclutch never gets old for me.

    See ya in Tamriel.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Some people didn't read OP's post closely enough....OP specified the PC MMO market, and was thanking the devs for not simply slapping an ES label on a cookie-cutter MMO, instead incorporating the different playstyle (which, yes, is based off many ES staples.)

ESO was made with console in mind first, no doubt about it.
Like OP I love the game, and in my opinion it is the best game on One/ps4.

Ummmm not true at all. Morrowind, Skyrim, Oblivion, ESOTU all on consoles of one kind or another. Almost every Elder Scrolls title is definitely not solely for PC.

Also quite clearly the OP is thoroughly enjoying his console experience so the comment 'your enthusiasm will wear off quickly' makes no sense. It might have done for you, but that doesn't mean it will for everyone.

I have played TES games on PC and console. Have to say, the console experience is thus far pretty awesome. And no the enthusiasm won't wear off for me, despite all the nay sayers.

The game has its troubles and quirks for sure, but so do all games and many far worse than anything in ESOTU.

    Have a great Tamriel day.

Or not, as the case may be. Not everyone who started playing the game over a year ago is jaded and dejected. Some of us are still loving the game. Beats me why those who are not are still here complaining about it - and it's not because they love it really, if they did they wouldn't put so much venom into their criticisms of the game and those who developed it.
