messaging in eso consoles is broken

when i type a message on xbox one in game not the xbox it says their is no player with that name so i can't send messages.

I've had that happen as well. Both with messaging and trying to send items.

This sometimes happens on PC, although rarely.
Seems to be a inherent bug on all platforms.

You can't send mail to folks if there are spaces in their gamer tags. It won't even work if you use the send mail feature directly from your in-game guild list or friends list. I've included the entry from the known issues post below:

[New 6/15] Unable to send mail: We've seen reports that you sometimes cannot send or receive mail. This appears to be caused by spaces in a player's Xbox Gamertag. We're actively working on a fix for this.

I have had this too. It only happens for one of my guild members when I try to mail them something. I have to go out of game and unfriend them from the xbox friends menu. Then go in game and under guild I can then add friend and I can mail. It seems to cancel out each time I close the game though, so I have to repeat this process every time I want to send them mail.

i do just a normal letter from scratch if it doesn't work and it still doesn't

Does not happen to everyone....I get mail just fine every day from friends that use me as their crafter

I didn't hear about that but i don't get out that much to the community anyway i just make my own little posts and very rarely look at other peoples

You mean mail cause you cannot send messages unless you mean over the PSN? I haven't had a problem with either. In the past I know if you typed the name it wouldn't work but I send stuff to my friend all the time for crafting now and usually type his name. You can always go to friend list on ESO and just click their name and should have a side bar you can choose.

yeah mail is what i meant in game and it's not just a xbox problem from what i heard but i could be talking total garbage

Like I said I play on PS4 and never have problems with mail anymore. I had the issue with typing name of user and saying they didn't exist, but haven't had that since week1. Make sure you are typing the username and not character name or try finding them on your friends list in game and click their name and see if you can send mail there.

I still run into this problem, and i even take my friends name staight from the guild roster but i still get the "player with that name does not exist"
