Miss chance?

What is our miss chance in the game? I am lvl 37 and fighting lvl 33 mobs and I tend to miss a lot. Is it a bug or intentional?

Are you facing the mobs? The only attacks that do not need to be targeted are Heavy Attacks. All others you have to be facing the mob you want.

Also, please note, Line of Sight is a thing in this game. But, it is not your LoS from the camera view, but the character's LoS. So, sometimes you need to get your camera down lower to see what your character sees. You need LoS for say Invasion or some other skill, so that may not fire if your character can not "see" the mob in question.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

AFAIK, miss chance was removed from the game in the 1.6 update. The only thing in game would be inverse miss chance, simply put, the dodge chance of your opponent.

I do not know the numbers but I believe I do remember a base dodge chance of 5% from somewhere. No clue whether that one is true or not though.

Yeah, I'm able to hit them before and after, it even makes the sound that I hit them but does no damage. This is from using skills not weapon attacks. It's so odd, I expect my snipe to do massive dmg and it does nothing like it completely missed.

You should only be having issues with Misses if the enemies are a higher level than you. At a certain threshhold (might be 6 levels? cannot recall at the moment) around 50% of attacks seem to miss.

In your case, is it possible the enemies are dual wielding?
Think that dual wield NPCs may still have Sparks left over in their skillset, which temporarily makes all of the player's attacks (or maybe it was just melee attacks...) Miss for around 4 seconds.

Are you sure the game did not offer up a sacrificial rat to take the Snipe hit? If you see any Guts in the mob loot after, you know the game took one or more of your attacks and applied it to a rat or spider or something else crawling around on the floor.

I noticed that while powering through shadowfen and eastmarch. Its not an issue of LoS, you actually swing and get a "miss" message in FTC. This would happen more frequently on elites, and they were not using evade buffs. My guess is that it has to do with weapon skill level and character level versus mob level. But thats just my speculation.

My strategy is: If they glow red - HIT 'em.

Works for me. Of course I do have to reposition sometimes even if they're close 'cause they stop glowing. Irritating.

It's not really miss chance so much as it is the enemy's dodge chance.

I had a young Sorc (L20's) swear to me his frags were simply going by the NPC sometimes while doing no damage.

I demonstrated mine. He demonstrated his.

It wouldn't happen often, but ever now and then, it would quite literally fly right past the target.

I suspect the greater the level difference, the more often it procs.

I notice it happens a lot with bombard, I have 3 enemies in front of me and I'm not moving and they are just getting closer and I hit them a few times then suddenly one time nothing happens, you can see the spray go right thru them but they take no dmg at all. Happens with multiple types of mobs and they are 4-5 levels under me, I would think I would have a higher chance to hit not lower. Idk if they are dodging, seems unlikely since it happens to multiple mobs sometimes with my aoe.
