So this is my first ever MMO build post. Attempted research beforehand, but since I found very little on what I wanted, I winged it and modified as I went. It's a very versatile build, capable in PvP, dungeons, and grinding. I went through many variations of this build and it's still evolving, but I'm confident taking this pretty much anywhere. Designed for massive healing and buffs/defuffs, and also as a low health boss/player finisher. Great for ambush units. Keep in mind, I built this with pure healing in mind and mostly for PvP, though I've been through multiple vet dungeons as the healer. It's good for both. But I wouldn't read much further if you're more about DPS. Killshot means killshot. Passives are straightforward, mostly magicka related. I'll trust you to read up on your own. I'm also writing from a mainly PvP standpoint. Dungeons and PvE are straightforward healing until the boss is literally about to die (unless you have a damn good group).
You're gonna start with a High Elf Templar. Levels 1-50 I went with a 30 magicka, 15 health 5 stamina spread, but recently respecced and put all 51 into magicka (the jury is still out on this decision) once I hit Vet ranks. Short and simple, you're gonna take all passives in the Dawns Wrath, Restoring Light, Restoration Staff, Light Armor, and High Elf skill lines. We'll get around to Aedric Spear soon. Next, actually. You're main weapon for both Bars is Resto staff. Focused skills.
Aedric Spear
The only spell I use in Aedric Spear is Piercing Javelin, specifically for the knockdown. It really helps slow down enemies and players ambushing you and gives you a chance to catch your breath. I currently have it morphed into Aurora Javelin, though I think Blinding Javelin is the better morph for the extended knockdown. Up to you.
Edit: Due to Blinding Javelin being a stamina based morph, I recommend sticking with Aurora.
Dawns Wrath
Take every skill but Backlash. I love it, but there are other more useful spells to slot. Morph Sun Fire into Reflective Light. It hits up to 3 targets (amazing for tagging adds while grinding), does some nice little DoT, and to cap it off snares those 3 enemies for 40% movement speed. Perfect for slowing down a fleeing group in Cyrodiil or slowing down a group of adds chasing you. With Solar Flare morph it into Solar Barrage. Instant 20% damage boost for you next attack and does a little AoE right around you. Eclipse is changing into Total Dark. Catches enemies (especially magicka users) off guard with the spell reflects and heals you every time they hurt themselves. I've seen many players essentially kill themselves trying to kill me. And last but not least, the doozy, Radiant Destruction morphed into Radiant Oppression. The death blow. Super high damage that scales to your magicka and deals low health targets a whopping 300% additional damage. Nasty.
These 2 lines are essentially the entirety of your DPS capabilities. We'll talk strategy soon.
Edit: Dark Barrage is also a viable morph for Solar Flare. It has a short cast time, but that healing debuff is quite nice in PvP.
Restoring Light
Your healing line. Why everyone loves you. Get every skill but my once beloved Healing Ritual (the channel time is a killer). Start with Rushed Ritual morphed into Breath of Life, your main heal. Two heals are better than one. Healing Ritual is morphing into Purifying Ritual for the Purify Synergy and large AoE heals. Also absolutely invaluable in quickly removing up to FIVE negative effects from yourself. Nice. You're gonna morph Restoring Aura into Repentance. Simply slotting it will give you it's effects and you restore health and stamina for everyone close to you for every dead body around when you activate it. Did I mention is has no cost to cast, either? Last but not least, Rune Focus. Haven't morphed it, but it has saved my ass in a few situations. If you can stay relatively immobile, especially in dungeons, that increased damage resistance is great.
Restoration Staff
Your primary magicka generator. With it's passives, each heavy attack is invaluable, as it restores magicka and heals nearby allies for a percentage of the damage. Pepper in heavy attacks in between snares and/or heals. Here, I took everything but Blessing of Protection. Grand Healing is morphed into Healing Springs. It's use it usually situational, but it can be quite valuable with the magicka regen. I use Regeneration morphed into Mutagen. I actually have it morphed into Rapid Regeneration currently, but as it's not a huge source of healing anyway, the effect removal of Mutagen is more valuable. Steadfast Ward is up to you which morph sounds better. Both help. I also use Force Siphon situationally on Tank n Spanks. Don't have that morph yet.
Soul Magic
As a healer, you're gonna want Soul Gems. Soul Summons and Soul Lock are nice to have, though obviously not required. Makes trapping easier. Morph Soul Trap into Soul Splitting Trap.
Ultimate
I use Nova morphed into the variation of your choice. Versatile Ulti, best used for taking out large pulled groups. Also drop it to scatter groups in PvP or put DoT on bosses. I'm working on unlocking Barrier from the Support line for obvious reasons.
Edit: Soulstrike from the Soul Magic line is amazing on my DPS bar. It also adds another laser attack, making your character even more awesome. .
Assault and Support skills are up to you, though I'd suggest working on getting that Barrier from Support. And obviously the speed boost from Assault.
Strategy
I roll with 2 specific Bars: primary Bar is healing, secondary is execution/solo. Keep in mind the beauty of this class is it's adaptability. Skill switching is common depending on what the situation calls for.
Bar 1 I always use Breath of Life for primary heals, Mutagen for HoT and effect removal, and Purifying Light for those same things but in AoE form. The two other slots are up to you to decide on depending on sutuation. Or maybe you like it different. This is merely a guideline. In PvP and solo questing I usually slot the speed boost here as well.
Edit: Repentance should be a standard slot as well for its recovery properties.
Bar 2 is the one that is usually pretty locked besides one slot. I keep Breath of Life for emergency heals. Reflective light, as it's always useful. Usually my first attack if it's not a buff or debuff. That snare is a game changer. Piercing Javelin is a staple as well. When those annoying Nightblades or werewolves get on you, knock them away and regroup, hit em with the snare and get a quick couple of heavy attack in while they're down. Last is Radiant Oppression, where the Killshot comes from. Once the enemy is slowed and at half health, it's essentially game over (besides bosses and significantly more dangerous players). The last spell is up to you. I love Total Dark in PvP as it neutralizes harmful single target spell. Solar Barrage is nice as well for the damage boost or I'll slot Soul Trap here when I'm harvesting.
Edit: Repentance is also a smart slot here as well.
Gear
I'm not quite in far enough to recommend specific gear, though since the magicka regen is quite nice on this build, I'd recommend any sort of health oriented gear. While 1 v 1ing (even 1 v 2ing depending on player skill) is totally viable with this build considering it's healing abilities and single target DPS, I'd stick with at least one more player.
And that's basically it. Crafts are obviously your choice but I recommend Clothing and Provisioning. Woodworking for your staff, maybe. I'm currently only a Vet 4, so this builds viabilty at higher levels may change. I only see it getting better. I'm still enhancing it but I feel as I I have a nice build here, as it can be used in any aspect of the game.
I'm on Xbox One in the NA server, Gamertag is Synisyst. If you find this useful or have any suggestions let me know! I also have an active and up-and-coming PvP Guild (Ebonheart Pact only) with a lot of skilled players. If interested in an invite, message me! Most of us know what we're doing!
Edit: We got a Guild Trader NPC!
