Are you that vain with your characters that you must dye new things immediately? I'm all for customizing my stuff but it's not a big deal to rock those ridiculous bright green pants til I get back to town. :p

Wait. .why can't you just go to one of the many dye stations? I'm okay with that idea but it just does not seem like something we really need at this moment.

It'll never be something of need. Simply an item of convenience for the player and what would probably end up being quite a bit of Revenue for ZOS.

Honestly, I think these are the kind of items that should be sold in the crown store. Not riding lessons and XP pots.

I wanted the dyes themselves to be craft-able with the materials dropped from content. so a combination of materials got you different colours.

This would be better than having them in the crown store. Plus, it could be quite fun to try and find all the different materials.

That would be awesome... but it was decided to have them attached to achievements.

Actually... What if the achievement gave you the "recipe" for the color and you had to collect the ingredients to get the color and once you made the dye you had a limited number of uses of it.

Good idea but not worth it since their's plenty of Bug's that still need fixing.

Yes, Devs, if you are lurking, focus on fixing bugs. NOT on adding new cosmetic things to the crown store. I dont want an ice cube horse. I would like to be able to be in Cyrodiil and not have a PR of 150+ at the entrance area with no battles nearby.

Going with the majority - this isn't a good idea at all.

To start off, I'm in first person view, so I can't see my armor. Then there's the whole crafting my own every even level, so I'm dyeing at the same time I create. As for the "better" stuff I generally find, I deconstruct it (unless it's much better than what I'm wearing). 20 points difference isn't enough for me change out, and so far, this has been rare. Most of the better stuff I find is armor/weapons I don't use.

But the final reason: no way am I giving up three slots for dyes when I can use that space for loot to break down. Leveling > coloring.

I don't think the "majority" is against the idea. Sure there is a pretty good amount of people who wouldn't use this but such is the way with things. And no one is claiming that stuff found out in the wild is "better" but not all of us spend time crafting our own gear.

Also, you seem to misunderstand. It would be 1 inventory slot for 3 dyes, not 3 inventory slots for 3 dyes. And again, not everyone plays as you do or has the same inventory priorities.

+1 for the title alone and another +1 for the idea!

It would be nice to carry a field kit of my current colour scheme for when I pick up new pieces that I want to use. I'd make full use of this idea.
RIP Atherton, my beautiful little gentle friend. I will miss you forever. Without you I am a hollow shell.

An additional use for this concept would be for specific special Dye Kits to be sold exclusively in the Crown Store. Like maybe each Daedric Prince and Aedra could have their own paint scheme that could be bought in the Crown Store. Aedra could be all pretty and shimmery and daedera could have dark undertones. Effects like iridescence could be sold too....

I agree with other players that this implementation falls a bit short, since most folks would wait to get to a city to dye the armor piece or just put a costume on to cover it up until they get back to town. However, I think this ^ is something they could do. Adding the effects to your armor to make it shimmery or with dark undertones, might be something people would pay for and maybe for RPer's add this to (not the costumes) but the looted clothing pieces so that people can make their own unique costume look.

One thing I've learned from my days in UO, is that people will pay out the nose for colors whether it be for cash or gold just so their character can look unique.

(Edit: I apologize, I know this an old thread Gid, but I took your suggestion while in this downtime =) )

Don't apologize! I always like seeing some new life in my threads @LadyKaliska!

This idea was formed from a couple of different thoughts:
    • My own desire to be able to dye my armor pickups out in the middle of nowhere
    • Posts in other threads wanting portable dye stations
    But mostly it was...
    • My own detest for the idea of a full portable dye station
This was simply an attempt at an alternative solution. Admittedly it's not an idea for everyone... but no idea is.

I do really like the idea of special color sets being sold in the crown store but to be hones, not a portable dye kit. If you buy a dye, it should go in your dye list with the other dyes. Now, the idea of a portable dye kit that has a limited number of uses that can be bought from the crown store is definitely one that would be profitable but I'd hate to see that come about.

I think the costume dye system, which ZOS just showed off in the live show is awesome - at least for ESO+ members. We basically can dye them like normal armor for no extra costs. All others need these special items to be able to do that and will have just a preset of colors with those available. Real freedom of dying comes with ESO+, I think that is a great new perk.

Everybody on the chat was so mad (me included), and then they talked about the ESO+ part and there was a collective sigh of relief lol
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Thanks for resurrecting this @MornaBaine , and it's awesome to see what they are doing with Costume Dye Stamps, it's not exactly this concept.

This concept was pretty much suggesting a way for us to dye away from the dye station. The costume dye stamps are offering a very specific dye combination on costumes.

Not exactly the freedom I was looking for, but still cool!
