I hadn't thought of this until today, but I was hitting an npc who was standing in water with heavy storm attacks, as well as a lighting bolt power I can't remember the name of. I would really love it if this game didn't just have mechanics, but did reflect a little bit how this stuff works. If you are standing in water and get hit with electricity, there should be a (huge) bonus to damage. I figure you could account for the caster not being hurt in the same circumstances because the magic they are calling forth might provide a field that would keep them from getting electrocuted. I'm just asking for some sensible real-world physics to be in here, makes positioning your enemy important. There are plenty of times I was put on fire with magic and thought "But my character is at least knee-deep in water. Doesn't that count for anything?"
Oh, and another thought it stoked: maybe we could eventually have new skill lines/types of magic, such as water. Having 2 players work together with water and electricity, or having 2 sorcerers try to negate each other with water/frost and fire, would not only be fun, but add a new depth to strategy. It isn't as if you have to stay with the same styles as Skyrim, etc., have established. I might be naïve, but I don't see how it is lore-breaking to have magics based on water, earth, light, wind, etc....we already had some magics involving light in Skyrim or Oblivion, or both (can't remember which specifically.)
I wouldn't mind if this duality/complementary/opposite nature to magic came only when you progressed far enough, i.e. it could be only accessible with champion points or skills/changes like this could replace champion points.
