Nirnhoned - Level/Location for it to start dropping

Kajimano_ESO
Does anyone know when (Level) or where Nirnhoned gear will start dropping?

I've been trying to locate this as well. From what I've gathered, you can only get it in upper Craglorn area from doing a specific quest. Also the only place to get the fortified nirncrux is in upper craglorn from getting raw material. If I'm wrong, someone correct me so I can know as well.

Craglorn, so your saying around V11, thanks for the hints, will look into it when I get there, still have a month of research before it becomes an issue anyway.

Oh and here's an idea for a crown purchase, speeding up or completing researches faster, cost based on time remaining.
I'd like to be a master Clothier before the end of the year.

Nirnhorned Gear only drops once, by completing the Main Quest in Upper Craglorn. If your looking to research the trait, you pretty much have to buy a traited piece from a Guild Kiosk//Store. On the PC, your looking at 20K plus for those items. On the console, it's probably a lot higher.

As for the Stones themselves, they only drop in Equipment Material Harvest Nodes in Upper Craglorn. This means Void Ore, Void Cloth, Nightwood and certain animals for the Void Hides (Shadowhide?). Wewlas are the only ones I have heard that drop it up there, but there may be other critters that drop the Nirn along with the Hides. There is a slightly higher chance of them dropping from Survey Nodes, but it's still a low drop rate.

Do you get to pick what Nirnhoned gear you receive (armor, one-handed, two-handed, staff, or bow)?
    Or is it completely random?

    Pure RNG.

If you don't need what you get, sell it and buy what you do need or want. Or trade it to someone who will give you a traited item to research in return that you do want.

You get a random nirnhoned item from the craglorn quest line.
All others must be traded, they don't drop.

For making nirnhoned you need "fortified nirncrux" for armor or "potent nirncrux" for weapons.
Nirncrux can be found in nodes (void ore, nightwood, void cloth) and on mobs that drop leather.
Chances are low for nodes, it's 0.25% chance. Leather I don't know, but it is even lower.
That makes 400 nodes for a nirncrux on average.
If you do crafting writs you can get a survey. Nodes from a survey have a higher chance (1.25%).
It's sill a rare drop. 80 on avarage. A survey has 8 nodes, so 10 surveys.
But it's chances, no guarantee at all.
Nirncrux mines give no nirncrux. Wonder why. And how plants suck it out of the soil...
Nirncrux items you can steal (red brittle) can't be used.

And like @Krision said, nirn bug will be fixed soon, so prices might go down.
Right now you can stack resistance with nirncrux, making you near immune to magic damage.
There is no high level requirement, once you can enter Craglorn, you can get nirncrux (meaning Vet 1 I think)
You also don't need to finish the quest either.

You can buy nirnhoned items (around 25-30 k on PC EU) or buy nirncrux (20k-25k) and find a crafter.
Most crafters charge 1k-3k for a item. There are a few that have all items researched on one char.
Some have "nirnhoned chars", meaning they researched nirnhoned only, taking just 6 hours research per item
and making much money while selling in early gold rush...

You should have been playing when they put some of the survey locations right under a Wasp's Nest. I would just drop the survey from my inventory when it sent me there. I am so glad they fixed it.

Now, if this was the Clothing Survey, then there is a way to get to that without dieing. It requires an Invisibility Potion. Assuming you use the WS to the North, go South to the Mountain, then you go to the Right side of the mountain, up the path, past the quest giver. Then navigate along the cliff rocks until you see the Mobs. Since you can't jump while Invisible (it seems that way anyway) pop the potion when you are on the rock that has the mob, you are far enough away to not aggro them. Once your invisible, then walk past the mobs to the survey location.

Going in from the Left side of the mountain, assuming the same approach as above, you might need 2 or 3 potions to get past the mobs. I have never tried that way. Well I have but I die.

Never thought about using a invisibility potion, great advice, will try that the next time.

I got my Left and Right mixed up. I have edited it, but you want to approach the mountain, but take the path on the Right. It ends near the top, but you can make your way along the cliff to the point you have to jump. Then you can quaff the potion and make your way to the survey location.

And, there is another survey location that you have to walk between two mob groups, I almost always aggro them. I am going to try the Inv Potion on that one next time I get it.

You do realize it is not a nerf, one nirn piece of gear was causing all the pieces of the rest of your gear to add up as if they all were nirnholded, nirn may actually go up because now people will need more to get the spell resist they were getting by exploiting the gear bug.
