I have seen numerous posts lately about people yelling about the nerf to nirn and the buff to NB cloak among other things. I would like to take a moment to clarify what a buff, nerf and fix is.
A buff is the increase in the power of an ability, trait, etc that was underwhelming and not in line with the power of many other skills.
A nerf is the decrease in the power of an ability, trait, etc that was overpowered compared to many other skills in the game.
A fix is when an ability, trait, etc is not working as it was intended to work by the devs.
So to clarify....
Nirn is not a nerf but a fix. nirn was never intended to apply a percentage boost in your overall spell resist, but a percentage boost in that particular piece of armor leading to a ridiculous inbalance in the game.
NB cloak is not a buff it is a fix. NB cloak has been the number one broken ability since launch. Although strides have been made in fixing it it is not done yet. breaking from stealth because you applied a DOT to someone else and it registers as a hit, or from using an Hot on yourself to break you from stealth is not working as intended.
Dodgeroll and streak are nerfs. They are abilities that essentially mitigated all damage while being able to do it forever with no strong counters to it.
Hidden blade got a buff. it was decided that the DW skill line was not in balance with other options. specifically with everyone that runs stam hoping on the bandwagon for the buffs you got from using 2h which was great. this was intorduced to balance stam builds providing more options. (ofcourse this one may be seen as debatable b/c of the power of steel tornado, but i welcome the change b/c well i love DW)
this post is not meant to be condescending in any way. it just seems people do not understand some of these basic concepts throughout the forums or perhaps do not do their research.
