More Regular Clothes, Jewelry!

I want regular clothes! I want jewelry to show up! Not every regular clothing item should look dirty and filthy and made for peasants, and please, no more costumes.

A world as big as Tamriel should have shops with these things, and my jewelry shouldn't be glued to my head!

Thanks.

Wait, you mean clothes & jewelry in-game, not in the cash shop? *gasps*

Correct. I want to be able to walk to a store, and purchase these things. There are 1 million stores for swords and shields. Why are there no stores for normal clothes and jewelry and the like?

Yes. Also have clothing as a tab on the collections page (and preferably as an appearance option), rather than it taking up inventory slots or armor slots.

No. I want it to be physical items, just like anything else, that you need to wear. You shouldn't be able to wear clothes but also your armor under them and have plate mail benefits in a shirt. Why, why, why..

Because it's taking up 40 inventory slots on one of my alts is why!

Yup. My buddy loves that stuff. While I'm stealing stuff, I send all the clothing items his way. In skyrim the clothing could be enchanted with crafting passives. Or haggling passives. Then you could have your work clothes or your skullery maid costume.

I won't bother with clothing until it doesn't steal a slot from a consumable or something else useful.

I would pay crowns for the option to create an outfit from said clothing and use it like the skeleton transform or jester transform.

GTA online has saved outfits you can swap to. That might be a good inspirational point for zos.

RPers should not have their inventory space penalised because they want to keep non-armor costumes and clothing.
I can't really think of any better way to put it.

I fear my thread's intentions have been misunderstood.

In my opinion, a true RPer, such as I, would accept the literal roleplay of all things. One such thing is that, by choosing to wear this outfit today, I may not be so well suited for combat, but that is a choice I am willing to make.

Realism, not.. carry tons of costumes on me, wear my armor and my clothes, look like I'm not wearing armor but have armor benefits. That is MMORP. Fake RP. Pretend RP.

I am not interested in having mechanics enable pretend RP, in which you can appear to be x but actually be Y.

Eh. I keep non-armor clothing in my inventory. And all the disguises. And yeah, that means I cannot nearly pick up as much. But you know... for me, for my roleplaying enjoyment, its worth it.

Sure, I'd wish they'd change all disguises into costumes after completion of the quest they are used in, and store them in the costume tab to free up some space... and maybe someday they will do just that.

But until then, I will keep it all in my inventory, and not whine about it.

Now... let me just add another vote to the notion of seeing more non-armor clothing in the game. Way more. And seeing it not just show up in the occasional wardrobe to burglar, but also sold by tailors, and researched/crafted by clothiers. Non-combat perks to work into those wopuld also be nifty! Clothes that improve haggling, thieving or crafting... bring them on!

Thanks. It would add a ton to the game, as a persistent world.

In fact, having whole new Clothing crafting lines which are breeches, dresses, shirts, tunics, etc. with different racial styles and materials would be fantastic. The template is already there to follow.

Jewelry should show up on our characters (rings, bracelets, necklaces, anklets, etc.), and should be found on drops, in shops, and perhaps also craftable as a new skill line with racial styles and materials.

Personally this would add nothing to the game for me, however that doesnt discount the fact that a number of people would appreciate this aspect.

However I would hope that a number of other developments/updates are released prior to any cosmetic changes.

    I can understand that.

In theory, there could be concurrent development (or cycle) of cosmetic/other gameplay. For some people, a PVP update is huge, and for others, more complex clothing/jewelry would be huge.

I could foresee making a new jewelry system that is heavily tied to enchanting and magicka benefits, and shifting that away from the armor to some extent. Something like that, and so it wouldn't necessarily be for looks, only.

Adding visuals for the jewelry is something that the developers could do without too much work, and it would result in a huge visual change on our clients, and, if the cats and horses have shown anything, people really like shiny visual changes.

I get that there are priorities, but if I was running the show, this would be high on them.

Does anyone know if there is a high class clothing outfit? I loved that in skyrim.

We kinda got this in the form of costumes, but I still would love more slottable, regular clothing, and in game clothing shops, such that I have to make a choice to wear these pieces in equipment slots.

And I would love if jewelry had visuals.

I would love if there was more plain clothing, but only as costumes, or a secondary armor skin tab. Unless you just want it for a pure crafting character or something that never sees fighting, you generally need armor. That's why people use costumes, and nobody uses the clothing pieces that already exist in the game, because they offer nothing.

Wwe allready have regular clothing. All we really need to do is to scrap the stupid costume system and replace it with true cosmetic wardrobe system where everyone can just make their characters look exactly how they want ny equipping armour in to the cosmetic equipment slots.
Jewellery just needs some nice models to use as well as some cosmetic jewellery options.

In reality, for the sort of era, both armor and clothing options would be pretty limited, but we have a fantasy world in Elder Scrolls with endless options. We have tons of armor styles, but basic clothing is really limited. There are perhaps 20 or so items, and all of them look dirty and similar.

The costumes I really don't like because of how they break the equipment system. It just plainly doesn't have any basis in sense that I can equip any armor and then also look like I'm wearing something else entirely. I get all the benefits of both worlds, and there is no trade off. No trade off makes for boring choices. Boring choices makes for boring gameplay and loss of uniqueness among characters.

How this sort of thing is handled and balanced in other games and MUDs is that you simply have slots, and you can equip things to them, like in real life. You can choose if you want a scarf, a necklace around your neck. A hat on your head, or a helmet, or nothing, and reap the benefits or each individual choice, be that style or protection. One could argue that light armor kind of fills that role of having "clothing" to wear that's also useful.

If we simply broke down all costumes into slottable items, and made them all as obtainable items in game, or even in crown store, whatever they need to support the business model, but then they would take up slots, that would be a huge step in the right direction.

If you're wearing a formal dress costume, you probably aren't in a combat scenario. If you're running a dungeon, you probably want to put armor on. However, there is a beautiful gray area in between that is lost with the current system (again one might argue light armor fills that role, but I would not agree).

The regular slottable items would also be enchant-able. There's no reason not to. So you could really mix and match and take your choices and they would actually be interesting choices (e.g. "OK what am I going to do today, and what can I wear for that?"), and not just "OK I'm gonna put this costume on now cuz it looks cool while still keeping my full tank set on and having no actual decision to make").

Right now, we have 3 clothing systems, and I don't see any reason for it. Reg clothes, armor, costumes. There's simply no reason they couldn't all be merged like other games have done, and just be.. slottable items. Mix and match as you choose. Every item can have it's stats and bonuses and maluses. The whole thing would blend seamlessly, and of course, just as now, a party dress would have less armor than that WHATVER PLATE OF JULIANOS you just crafted.
