I just want to Solo Melee, any tips?

Howdy,

I have been playing RPGs (PnP) since 1987, and MMORPGs since 1997 (UO).
I like playing the classic "Sword-n-Board Paladin" type of charcater...and role-playing them as "the shining knight" because that is as far from my true personality as I could get without playing a 9-year-old girl with pigtails. (lol).
My only problem with ESO (on console) is the lack of text-chat, and the difficulty this brings to finding/joining groups (I have sat in the group-finder for hours on end and still have never gotten a dungeon done.), and the inability to role-play them as my voice doesn't fit my character.

So...instead of asking for the game to cater to me (Since I LOVE the game!), I am now going to try to cater to the game.

All I ask of you "Pros" is for a good solo-melee-build.
I like to get in there and kill things, and survive while doing so.
As I am very new to ESO, I only ask your patience, and some small understanding.

I have tried running an Imperial Templar...and repec'ed over ten times already at only level 37...by using guides found in internet searches.
But, most of the sites with builds haven't been updated for quite a long while, it seems.
And, many/most of the templar builds call for wearing light armor and using staves...which just rubs me the wrong way.

So...can anybody just give me a good melee-solo'ing build that I can use just to "get out there and enjoy the world"?
I like sword-n-board...but, will adapt to another weapon style...just please no "staves", they reek of "caster" to me.
I like Heavy Armor...it just looks, and feels...right.
And, I need to be able to handle things alone, and level at a "adequate" rate. (I don't need "instant gratification".)

Thank You, in advance, for anyone willing to help.

You can do all the solo content as any race, any class, any build. You can easily play through the game as a Heavy Armor + Sword-and-Board character.
I'd suggest an Imperial due to their racials passives, Dragonknight or Templar.

I am certainly not the best at min-maxing, but I am having a ton of fun with my Templar right now at VR9. She's a Two-Handed scimitar-wielding Redguard, wearing a heavy chest piece, light armor hood, and the rest is medium armor. Attributes split 1:1 Health:Stamina.

Her skills bars are as such (base ability -> morphed ability):

    Main bar:
    1) Cleave -> Brawler (good damage shield and DoT)
    2) Uppercut -> Wrecking Blow (good single-target burst damage and CC)
    3) Reverse Slash -> Reverse Slice (Execute ability, and does damage to everything around it)
    4) Focused Charge -> Explosive Charge (good gap closer, and sets casting targets off balance)
    5) Restoring Aura -> Repentance (heals based on number of enemy bodies around, and passively gives me more regen)
Ult) Radial Sweep -> Empowering Sweep (decent AoE damage, and you take less damage the more enemies you hit)

    Second (buff) bar:
    1) Momentum -> Rally (Heal over time and damage buff, with a burst heal at the end)
    2) Evasion -> Elude (20% dodge chance for a bit of stamina, and usually lasts the whole fight)
    3) Spear Shards -> Blazing Spear (Good AoE DoT and stuns one enemy)
    4) Cleansing Ritual -> Extended Ritual (Heal over Time for extended boss fights)
    5) Expert Hunter -> Evil Hunter (buff versus undead, daedric, and werewolf enemies with the passives)
Ult) Nova -> Solar Prison (for tougher bosses)

My armor setup is 5 pieces of Vampire's Kiss and 3 pieces of Night's Silence. Again, not the best setup, but allows me to keep rolling as long as I kill an enemy every so often.

My basic strategy is to buff myself up with Rally and Evasion (and Evil Hunter if fighting those enemies), then lob a Blazing Spear and charge into battle with Explosive Charge. Wail on them with two-handed abilities, and as enemies drop and I need more health or stamina, hit repentance. I almost never touch magika abilities except at the beginning of the fight, and my health is usually topped off with the shield from Brawler protecting me. If I do get hurt or need more stamina, I just hit Repentance and I'm good to go again.

Templar, rounded stats, 5pc heavy armor, 1 medium, 1 light, 1h/shield, whatever weapon 2nd bar.
If you have a class skill tree that you haven't leveled yet, I,would grab the first skill and plop it onto main bar.

Use puncture (1h/shield skill) for cheap damage.
Sunfire for that damage over time (morphed to reflective light to hit more targets).
Restoring aura to boost stam and health regen.
Spear shards for more dot damage.
Defensive posture to reflect all incoming spells (destroys caster bosses) (1h/shield skill)
Pick any ultimate (I prefer right of passage because of full heal and breather to regen stam and magicka)

On the second bar, just need rushed ceremony to save yourself.

If you can make an armor set, build a level 10 set then troll all the delves in Cyrodiil (the armor set will scale with you while in Cyrodiil so you only need the level 10 set)(only need green upgrades)

    Your basic rotation would be:
Spearshards > soulfire > charge heavy attack > puncture (activate while charging heavy attack).
You can get two "Charge attack > puncture"s before needing to reapply spearshards and soulfire.
Restoring aura and defensive posture should be active at all times. When defensive posture reflects a spell, you need to recast.

Try a nightblade in heavy armor with sword and board. They have a nice evade buff and some class skills to jump at your target and attack or just do pure melee damage.

If not nightblade then dragon knight. They have a skill that boosts your heavy attack damage a ton. One that gives you an armor buff and a damage shield to do damage to stuff that hits you in melee. A reflect skill to send magic casted at you back at the caster. There is a stamina based morph of a few of the main class attack skills i think.

Go with a Stamlar using heavy armor and 2h weapons. You'll be able to kill pretty much anything. Look for gear sets that give you max stamina/regen and weapon damage. Below is a link to the craftable sets in the game that should be able to help you greatly. Contact a max crafter for help with them. A couple good sets to pair would be 5 Hundings and 3-4 Nights Silence/Ashen Grip/Night Mothers.

Might wanna put health glyphs on cuirass and legs in such a build, to get more health? Do you use any traits on armour?

3-piece Oblivion's Foe might be a choice too, since they also offer Stam regen
