What's up with merchants?

They will buy trash items off me, but they will not pay for food, weapons, armor, runes, and other stuff? What's up wit dat? Is ESO going to fix that? I mean I loot 2 steel swords and can't get crap from them from vendors or when I deconstruct them.

That's why I only keep green and up items for deconstructing unless they have the bonus for deconstruction, then save items with increased merchant selling price to sell. Everything else is just wasting precious inventory space IMO.

Yeah, I have come to learn that. Once in a blue moon I can deconstruct a regular item and get something.

if they are looted from containers they are worthless if they are white. Kill things for loot...

The thing that kills me is they wont even pay 1 gold per Ta rune. I have stacks of 200 in my bank and this crap is too plenty to sell anywhere and its worthless for merchants.

There is a passive in the crafting trees that increases your chances at yielding items from deconstructing. Might want to invest into that.

Weapons, armour and runes are all things that other players may want to have, so you could try selling it to them instead. It's only container weapons and armour that have no value though, those that you get off enemies can be sold. Basic food is so prevalent around the game-world that it is effectively and literally worthless.

The white stuff you loot from containers/the environment is worth 0 gold. When the game first game out, you could not pick these items up at all. When they changed it, they made them worthless so people wouldn't farm them. They also give less crafting XP than an item you loot from a mob that is at the same level.

And yes, I wish some of the crafting items were worth at least 1 gold each. With Ta, I've just crafted a bunch of runes and vendored those instead.

Or put them up for sale in a guild store if you have one in a lower zone. When you are first starting out, they are kind of hard to come by.

There are some looted items that can be sold to the fence but are worthless to a merchant but even then they are only worth 1 gold. It's not worth looking for them or taking the time to pick them up but if you have them then you may be able to fence them.
