The Gilded Grins
' Watch your coin purse around those slums, and don't trust any of those sweetened smiles'

-
Setting

Tragedy on a grand scale can not only tear down a once great civilisation to the ground, but it can scatter it's wounded people to the four winds.

As Molag Bal pierced the veil between Tamerial and The Great Aetherius bringing his scornful might down upon The Imperial Province and it's people, thousands were slaughtered in but a few hours, those who crawled out of the chaos (hides mostly intact) found themselves without food or shelter, there lands now salted and scorched.

With Cyrodiil being pulled thrice ways by the dominating factions cornering Tamriel, refugees of all races now find themselves fleeing to ancestral lands, but those without the luxury of wealth or circumstance simply follow the masses of the lost, scurrying to what lit corners they can find in an ever darkening world.

As the expansive flight of The Aldmeri Dominion sweeps across southern Tamriel to the very heart Cyrodiil, The Eagles Banner has found themselves lumbered with desperate refugees fighting for scraps and hand outs amidst the already bursting cities of The Altmer and Bosmer.

From Valenwood to Auridon and even within the recently claimed Port of Khenarthi's roost, once proud Imperial civilians find themselves vagabond, littering The Dominions streets.

Whether you're Man or Mer, born of riches or burdened with rags, circumstance has forced you to find what shelter and food you can in an alien land with alien values, but who can argue with a stranger offering a place to rest your wary bones..

-

Theme

As the ripples of displaced civilians settles amongst The Dominion, slums and caravans have begun causing strife and discord for the locals of Auridon, it doesn't take an adventurer long to stumble across a conflict between Marines and a penniless human being forced to take his scattered belongings else where, or to find a beast being beaten for having particularly sly fingers.

This culture of refugee versus the Aldmeri Authority has left a gloom over Skywatch and Vulkhel Guard, with stark opinions on both sides of the social debate of immigration, despite some more open minded Altmer being welcoming to these unfortunate souls, organised crime has buried itself deep within the slums, to an almost cult level of devotion various incascerated individuals have taken to dyeing their teeth yellow, with dragonthorn drippings or ' gilding them ' in stark seemingly symbolic rebellion against the culture of excess found amidst The Dominion.

Whether these whispers of organised crime have any real truth to them, there's certainly something to be said for the level of chaos now bleeding into Auridon, and how many foreign strangers now drag their rancid feet across polished Altmeri stone.

Guild Direction

The Gilded Grins are a casual and comfortably small roleplay guild dedicated to keeping our stories open and welcoming, we are chiefly interested in exploring the social constructs of wealth and the lack of it that can arise due to the horrors of war, besides that we're also keen on looking at how The Aldmeri Dominion as a whole welcomes those not of it's token races, whether peace can truly be found under Mer and Khajiiti rule and how a collection of all man, mer and beast flung together by foul circumstance can either fall to depravity or rise to the occasion.

-

Are The Grins right for me?

If you're a new or even a vastly experienced roleplayer we're welcoming to those willing to learn and teach, we don't see roleplay as something to be heavily regulated either, more so mediated by those involved and affected by our storytelling.

Characters found within The Grins could either be displaced refugees or even sympathising local Mer, our direction in character is not set in stone but we don't intend to openly rebel against authority for the sake of it, unhindered character development valuing inclusion is our main aim, and keeping it fun for everyone involved is our priority.

Welcoming all races, but openly practising vampires or werewolves will be ostracised in a mob fashion.
