Invisible friends in same server

Hi,

This is a weird one. I am a PS4 player.

Firstly, I am aware that there is an issue with friends not showing up in the ESO friends list and I am pleased that you are looking into it. However, I wonder if this issue is linked with my instance.

I was able to group with a player who wasn't showing up, by entering their PSN ID in the social/invite to group section of the game, we could talk in game, whilst being on different server incidences. We are both on EU and both in the same Alliance.

I have since deleted the friend on my dashboard and re added them IN GAME to see if this would add them to the list. That worked fine. My friend is now in my ESO friends list on the social section. Then I created a group. They joined the group. I then teleported to the player, it loaded, the map showed their position and as we met, our player indicators were showing on both of our maps and compasses, yet we were both invisible to each other.

I am level 10, they are 5.

I am further into the game than them obviously.

Is it a level issue?

Could it be that our quests conflict?

Why can't I re-do a quest with a friend? Most other co-op onlines allow it. Maybe I am naive to the way ESO works. Perhaps we can only dive in at level 10?

Why can't I SEE my friend despite this?

Appreciate the teething issues with a new game and it's ambitious/large nature. I am a huge fan of the elder scrolls and fallout games from Bethesda, depsite their flaws.

Kind regards,

Yeti man

Maybe one of you freed the city/town and other one didn't. In that case you can't see each other untill both of you cleared it

I'm confused as to why though. Surely the idea is that we can group up with friends and go and help them play the game?

Of course I am in front, I have done way more and reached level 10. My buds are half that. Why can't I jump into their instance and play with them? Why do I have my own progress and my own progress only available? It's a bit daft if you ask me. Anti social too. Isn't it an MMO? Not a massively multiplayer online lone wolf session.

Unless it's just like this until they get to level 10 and join the main quest as it were.

Even the likes of borderlands and dying light, or whatever coop online game will let you join your friends and play their quests with them. I know the server works a bit different as that as it is player based hosting with those games.

I am brand new to the game too, so maybe I am just hugely unfamiliar to the way it works.

Thanks for the response so far. I need enlightening

This might be problem with phasing in some zones. Its a poblem since.. well pc launch. Some areas change with finihsing quests in them - you did those quests, they didnt. Ofc its silly - in my opinion optimal would be phasing all group to leader but common sense is not often welcomed in Z.

Seems to be the general consensus on how it works from our other guy there.

Bizarre. Such is life. I thought I would ask as my guys are not online tonight so we can't experiment. I might wait for them to get to where I am and go from there.

    Thanks to both of you.

It's because you are in different phases. If you have ever played DCUO this is a very normal and common thing. Just select "Travel to Player" from your friends list in-game and it should put you in the same phase.

Hi Reeko, I did this first time. Hence invisibility. It must be as their game had not saved the town as per the quest. Like the first dude said.

Both people could join my game no problems though. Perhaps the server refreshed the friends list. Odd.

I think I'm beginning to understand how it works out.
