The PvP comment doesn't make sense. If people are hitting harder and becoming harder to hit, then doesn't that problem solve itself?
The PvE problem can simply be "resolved" by adding harder content.
Soft caps complicate game mechanics and force players to play a certain way. If I wanna be a super squishy glass cannon, I should be allowed that privilege and all consequences as a result, not discouraged from it.
