Crafting Pricing

It's been awhile since I played, I came back for the console transfer and am looking to get back into crafting again, have everything at 50 except enchanting which is 31. I am looking for some suggestions on where to start my baseline pricing for service. For instance what seems to be a fair price for someone supplying their own mats when they want 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc items crafted? I wanna be able to help people out, but I also want to make sure I am not trying to charge too much but still get payed for the fact I will be bouncing around the map to and from various places to get to set crafting stations

I also used to sell trait items for 300-500 each for research purposes with discounts for bulk and they sold like wild.

I've seen prices range from people willing to pay 350g to 1000g for weapons with a specific trait that still needs to be researched. Depends on how bad the person wants it.

Console prices are higher than the PC prices.

Personally, I won't make a set of armor for less then 2,000 plus mats, and that is for a single crafted set. They want two different sets, then I add 500 gold, to cover travel time. I think you could get more on the consoles than that.

It depends on the trait and quality. The better more expensive

Exp:

trait nirnhorned = 15k

temper Epic = 1k
temper Legendary = 5k

you need 4 Epic, 8 Legendary for 100% change.

thus armor nirn legendary = 60k gold *__*

I'm on PS4 trying to make my way as a crafter doing the blacksmithing, clothing and woodworking writs each day and generally just researching and deconstructing everything I find. I spend quite a bit of time hunting and picking up the raw material to complete these jobs but I often find myself short of a few things. Which is annoying because I go to a guild store and the best I can find is somebody selling 3 rough beech for 286 gold or something stupid like that. And when it comes to crafting weapons/armour for myself and my friends, good luck finding temper/resin/tannin for a reasonable price.

It would be nice if there was some kind of fair price guide or something similar. I try to be realistic with my own excess material. For example, I can sell a stack of 50 sanded maple for 200 to a merchant, so I'll list that stack for 250 on a guild store. Then maybe 275 for oak and 300 for beech and so on. Not a huge difference in profit after taxes but it's something and I might have helped someone out.

A question for the more experienced crafters... At what point does it become more profitable to craft and sell an item than it would have been to just sell the materials used? Lately I've been thinking of going into the honing stone business with some of the prices I've seen.

First, prices on the console are insane right now, but they should come down. If your on the PC, there is a mod that helps with determining prices. On the console you have to do some leg work. Browse the Guild Stores and Kiosks and see what thing list for. Anything more than 10 days on listing that is common is over priced. With about 10 stores you will get an idea of what you should list at. Most Refined Mats sell for about the same price, with a slight increase as you go up in level (because the crafting writs use more mats as you go up in level). You don't have to compete with every kiosk, just the ones near yours.

And, your leaving money on the table selling 50 stacks of Maple for 250, more like 300 to 350 gold, 600 to 700 for 100 stacks, again, PC prices. But, there is also being nice to guild mates too, so unless you have a kiosk to sell through for your guild, let your conscience be your guide. Console, I have no idea, but probably at least double these prices right now, if not more.

Raw mats sell for 3 to 4 times that Refined Mats sell for. Reason you get Tempers from Refining.

Yes, Tempers are expensive, because they are hard to get, and you use a bunch of them. I got most of mine from Hirelings and Deconning. Hirelings are a great source of Green to Purple tempers, so have some. You need to be L32 in the craft to get the most tempers from your hirelings, but even a intro hireling brings the tempers in.

And to answer your last question, selling materials is a more steady income than crafting for others, and lot less of a pain too. Especially when you get those orders that want 3 from this set in this motif, two from another set in another motif, and 4 from this other set, but split between these two motifs. I return those emails when I get them.

Making and listing items for research is good to. Make whatever you have excess materials for, and sell them for 200 to 500 gold (or more on the consoles)

Im on console. I sell stacks of mats for like 250g (they arent big stacks or anything) or higher depending on the quantity and what level of product (maple/oak/beech etc). I find it does bring in a decent amount. Another one that has been making decent money for me is selling excessive recipes for provisioning.

Depends on that item in question. Back when stacks stopped at 100, I sold most everything (as far as refined mats went) for 1-1.2k a stack.

Gotta give it time to adjust.

1-1.2k is pretty reasonable, we're talking ~10 per mat. I'm talking 100 per Iron Ingot, etc. Stupid high.

But I agree, as with everything it will adjust. With ESO coming to console, it's a new culture for it to get used to
