Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

Try to explore the entire area you're in before moving on, there are maps to each area in the link above. I'd just set your character up however you like for now to see how you like to play. You can also Google DK builds and find some decent info.

You picked a good race and class, but horrible starting zone. AD is arguably the most frustrating zone to quest in. Invisible walls and forced paths everywhere.

Nord DK's make a good tank. Not as good as Imperial DK's, but a close second.

    The biggest and bestest tip on playing you will ever receive;

STAY AWAY FROM THESE FORUMS! Or at least the general discussion section.

People will tell you your (insert race, class, build, cat ,dog, mother's name...) is WRONG and go out of their way to argue to prove it just to make you as unhappy as they are.

Have as nice day, and have fun adventuring in Tamriel!

I'll invite you to the guild. I can give you plenty of tips on your setup and gameplay but it all depends on what you want to be. Deltia's gaming is a good place to start i saw someone drop a link to that. He kind of hates on Nords but you can make Nord work just fine.

I think it largely depends on what you want to do. You're low enough level that this won't make that much difference yet, but you should start thinking about what role you want to play in the trinity.

If you're new to MMOs in general rather than just being new to ESO, then the trinity is:

Tank: The job of the tank is to get the biggest threats to concentrate on him so that they're not going after the squishier players. To do this properly you want a few things: the ability to take a lot of hits and survive (generally achieved by using heavy armour and putting a lot into health, but you can also get this by using damage shields and/or self heals), a taunt (this is a skill that forces an enemy to attack you - the first skill in the Sword & Shield skill line is one of only 2 taunts in the game, and the bread and butter of a tank), and some way to control mobs (crowd control: a skill that roots them in place is great, and skills that cause damage while slowing them down can be good too). Tanks usually concentrate the most on health, and a balance between magicka and stamina is usually a good idea. Depending on what class skills you're going to be using, sometimes you can get away with neglecting magicka in favour of stamina, but the reverse is not true.

DPS (damage per second) / DD (damage dealer): The job of the DPS is simply to do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible, so that enemies are burned down quicker than they can kill you. In a lot of ways this is the easiest role, but at the same time a clueless DPS who concentrates only on doing damage rather than paying attention and staying alive can sink a group super fast, and on the opposite end of the spectrum a DPS who is good enough can make the jobs of the other 2 roles incredibly easy. DPS usually focus primarily on either magicka or stamina (with the choice usually being based on what weapons and skills you want to use to cause your damage), and generally have significantly less health and ability to take damage than a tank.

Healer: The job of the healer is to keep everyone else alive. If you're any class other than a Templar you really can't be a healer without using a restoration staff (and even Templars should really use them). Healers generally focus on magicka, because all of the spells that they're going to be using to heal the party rely on magicka.

In some MMOs the roles are set based on your class, but that's not true in ESO. Some classes are more suited to some roles than others, but it is possible to do any role with any class. Also, in some MMOs you really stick strictly to your role, and don't do anything from the other roles. In ESO you should stick primarily to your class, but a good tank or a good healer will also be contributing to the group's DPS, and a DPS who can throw in a bit of healing here and there when the healer is out of commission (or out of magicka) is super helpful, as is one who can briefly take over for a tank who is out of commission.

So think a bit about which of those 3 roles appeals to you the most, and we can then give you some better advice based on that. My initial thought is that a Nord Dragonknight is a fantastic combination for a tank (depending on who you ask, probably either the best or the second best race/class combo for a tank), but you could certainly go in a different direction.

    STAY AWAY FROM THESE FORUMS!

    this is very true!
i'm not new to the game anymore, but when i started i really had bad time in this forum, with this acoount, and with @cosmoplayer too.

if you ask for a info, something like:
    is it possible to...
you are going to have bad time with some people here, because lot of reply will be like:
    really! are you mad?...
    do you realy want to....
    forgot it...
    are you insane?...

you do not recive any suggestion from those person, always empity rethoric, polemics, frustration and even lot of insults.
fortunately there are also avery very nice people here, but lot of discussion are ruined by those, that are not few.

so for learning the game, i've always googling, and yutube is the best place to start with.

    good game, good luck.

I'm too new to this type of gaming & loving it by the way. I think joining a guild will help, being able to group up with people & having their insight/advice on hand is great. I just joined an Australian based Aldmeri Diminion guild called the Poo Poo Patrol the people there that I have grouped with so far are very laid back & easy to game with.

    Altmer, Dragonknight (mag), Damage Dealer
    Brenton, Templar, Healer
