what's the point of the black panther? When do I get something that fights or sniffs out treasure?

badhabit314
My black panther does nothing to my knowledge, anybody else know what it's good for? Also, when can I get an effective companion?

Vanity pets do absolutely nothing. Their sole purpose is to annoy other players with screeches, howls, and flapping sounds inside of banks, crafting halls, and other public areas.

The role of the black panther, the only crown store pet I own is to stay there and look stupid while I fight and get attacked. It stays away in my non existent home because of that. Until they make them look like they are doing something in combat I will not bother with them.

I, for one, am glad that vanity pets have no purpose other than to sit there and look stupid. If players could have pets that actually did something, or could be used in combat, ESO would turn into an 8 year old Pokemon fan's wet dream. There would be ridiculous pets all over the damn place all the time. You wouldn't be able to get away from it.

Play the sorc class and use the summoned one. They are the only class that gets 'pets' that attack, or heal or buff.

Any other pet is just fluff and annoying.

My Khajit loves his panther ...
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

Vanity pets never do anything; they're only a meant as a companion. Typically, items that affect combat being placed in a store that uses real currency is frowned upon. It's usually viewed as pay-to-win.

The flapping sounds come from the damn Twilights though (which is not a pet). I hate them. Whereever I go, there's a Twilight. When I want to do a quest and I see another player with a Twilight being on the same quest, I go doing another one. Whenever I want to click on a door to open it (especially in banks), a Twilight blocks the click radius. Same with crafting stations or containers, and also NPCs. Their wings-flapping is even visible when I'm in my inventory or journal which couldn't be any more annoying when I want to concentrate. I wonder why the hell there are still so many players in the game which don't have the decency to UNSUMMON them before entering a town!

Besides summoning, I'm a nb archer

There is no "besides summoning"... the ONLY way to have a pet that attacks is by being a Sorcerer and using the summoning skill line. As a Sorc, I only use the Clannfear summon and he does an awesome job of tanking so I can maintain a distance and destroy everything. He doesn't do a lot of damage, but I don't use him for his DPS, that's what I'm there for. ;)

The Black Panther is the ceremonial title given to the chief of the Panther Tribe of the advanced African nation of Wakanda. In addition to ruling the country, he is also chief of its various tribes (collectively referred to as the Wakandas). The Panther habit is a symbol of office (head of state) and is used even during diplomatic missions. The Panther is a hereditary title, but one still must earn it. I think he has a lot of uses!!
If you chase two rabbits, you will lose them both.
