Tis now the month of July, a month that many a ESO gamer has been looked forward to, as it is the supposed promise land month where ZOS shall unveil the mysteries cloaking their plans for our dear game. But, now that is most indeed be the month of July, I bring out my white glove, and slap it across the face of ZOS and say "I challenge thee to unveil thine secrets of the Elder Scrolls".

We could hear more tomorrow in the next ESO Live Twitch episode. I'm hoping they will have some dates on when they are rolling things out as they previously said that the next update would be before August.

Who knows, maybe we could have Imperial City on the PTS within the next week or so....Wishful thinking obviously... lol

I reinstalled SWTOR last night, because I have an MMO hole and ESO wasn't filling it anymore. There's nothing to keep me around anymore. PvP is stale and laggy and the only focus has been the cash store and consoles for the past 6-8 months, neither of which interest me in the least.

So, my sub money is going elsewhere unless ZOS does something that proves they are headed back in the right direction.

Quite remarkable just how bad ESO is when you play a decent MMORPG like SWTOR.

Though to be fair SWTOR was a car crash at launch, and it took them a few months to turn things around.

I like the game-play style of ESO better, but the immersiveness and grouping dynamics of SWTOR is leaps and bounds ahead.

So do I to be honest.

And that surprises me because up until ESO I hated this style of game-play with a passion.
I hate games that have me spend XP/Gold?Skill Points on loads of skills and then only let me use 4 or 5 of them at a time.
    I hate "twitch" games.

ESO changed that, other games now feel slow and cumbersome and very, very static.

Unfortunately in almost all other areas on which I judge a game (excluding graphics) ESO comes lower down the league than SWTOR, LOTRO, WoW, Rift, Neverwinter, etc.

It is more along the lines of a classic MMO. It feels more like an MMO.

As far as gameplay, the class stories and voice over is extremely well done. A blast to level through. The classes have unique playstyles. There's TONS of things to do. I played form launch up until the first expansion, so there has been a whole lot added to the game since I played last, but it looks like a lot of good content. I would just check out some gameplay footage on youtube, or just download and try it since it's F2P.

On top of that, it's in the Star Wars universe :)

The levelling experience is pretty unique as every class has its own, fully voice-acted and cut-scene, unique story arc.

If you play Republic whatever class you play you will in effect visit the same set of planets in the same order, and while the "generic" quests will be the same each time your Class Story will be unique. Works the same for the Imps.

You'll also have Companions that you pick up along the way as part of your unique class story, some with be healers, some with tanks, some DPS. You are able to choose which one you want and you will need to gear them up as you progress.

The bonus is how Companions tie into Crafting: each Companion has a buff to to crafting skills, and you can set your companions to craft for you. So if you have 2 Companions you can have one with you to assist with questing, and one doing crafting.

Game play is more of traditional skill bar, locked-target, combat. But some class still feel very mobile and dynamic. Its a lot less static than LOTRO or WoW for example.

The rub comes with Free To Play, there are a lot of things gated behind the cash shop for F2P players that, IMO, just shouldn't be. You'll need to buy extra skill bars beyond the first two, there's a credit cap, you can't hide your head slot without buying that ability in the Store.

But all of those locks disappear with a sub, and the SWTOR Sub has way more bonuses than ESO. In fact of the various games I play that are F2P and have a Sub option the only one I consider worth the money for a Sub is SWTOR.

When they do expansions you get tons of freebies if you are subbed at specific dates in the run in to the expansion. I was subbed prior to the Stronghold (player housing) expansion and got in excess of 1,000,000 Credits worth of free stuff.

As it is F2P I'd recommend trying it; but be aware that there is a TON of difference between F2P and Subbed.

The Quakecon thing is just speculation right? Or can anyone provide a source? All I've heard is that pre-launch coverage will start in July. While I wouldn't put it past ZOS to wait that long, this just seems like pot stirring. :/

    About the title:
Imo, the cards about the state of the game and its future were on the table when they accidentally called it "the damn game" during the B2P announcement. Things like this don't "just happen"; perceptive people such as myself knew in that moment that something's wrong, they're having problems. They tried to cover the accident by making jokes about it, but this was a serious thing behind it...

    About any upcoming updates:
They promised us the Imperial City to be out by end of 2014 already, so as far as I'm concerned, I don't wait anymore. It comes, or it doesn't.

I gave up waiting for some kind of update on the future on this game. The communication around here is just too poor for me, although to be fair, it was always terrible. Can hardly log in anymore. I am still waiting for Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, which are the main reasons I got this game, and I highly doubt either of those features will ever make it into the game at this rate.

Oh and SWTOR is a lot of fun. The class stories and questing are great. At this point there is a ton of content. The developers are much better at communicating their plans with the players as well.

LOL @ all the SWTOR comments ;)

I left swtor to come ESO I enjoyed at first but left in the end and went back to Swtor due to the unbalanced LA Magica vs Stamina builds. Then 1.6 dropped my friends left SWTOR for Smite so I came back here.

At first 1.6 was great Stamina builds were on par with Magica, but now due to the Champion system there are so many stupid OP builds and redundant Racials I quit the other day, and if it wasn't for SWTOR not letting me sub (Keep getting a error) I would be playing it again.

Things that pee me off still in the game.

1 Nirnhoned Armour traits, theres nothing quite like having your 19k frags reduced to 1.5k
    2 Infinate Roll dodge
3 Champ point grinding (Im on nearly 5hrs a day and 15+ on my days off work I have 193, yet people are in the 400+ now
4 TTK is pathetic in this game Double Snipes from Stealth, +insane Burst damage from NB's =Death in 1 second which leads to no counter play
5 Animation cancelling opens the door to macro abuse, Ambush>Surprise Attack>Light attack>Incapacitating Strike all in 1 second GG

No other MMO has such broken mechanics (well none that ive played SWTOR,TSW,GW2) even though ive quit now so far 1 day I still find myself watching ESO streams and Im itching to get back on, but I know if I do the above will just pee me off again.

Then we get to the ESO ZOS future (things we know are coming) YOU SHOWED US IMPERIAL CITY LAST YEAR AT QUAKECON 2014 E3 2015 comes along and you show even less of whats coming up, and re hashed video from 2014, you need to open up a hell of a lot more to keep people interested, and to enjoy the game. I can log onto GW2 and still be at maxed level and jump in straight away to end game content, will I be able to do this in ESO by the looks of things so far no as even 1 day off makes me weaker with less Champion points.

I realy do love this game but the longer I play it the more I see how broken it is and makes me want to quit.

    /Rant over
