Like, winning the map? Can't defend a keep with open walls?

If you only look for personal gain, the AP you earn improve Alliance War Rank and Leaderboard position.

They're basically only useful for Coldharbour Siege weapons and PvDooring when there's no incoming damage.

Err.. I was thinking Siege repair, not wall or door kits. My bad!

Repair kits are not worth spending AP. Spend the gold. If you're VR14 you can potentially use the AP to get gear like the Morag Tong and Shadow Walker parts from the vendor grab bags and sell them for 60-125K depending on the part. You can then use the gold from that to fund your PVP adventures. Otherwise, the cost for repair kits for AP is stupidly high for the amount of health they repair.

The only ones netting 30 AP (EDIT: actually they net 24 except if you have the resto staff passive for increased healing, former emp buffs or enemy keep bonus...) are wall repair kits. Door kits net 50 and siege kits net zilch.

It translates AP into more AP or gold into more AP.

It's there for support purposes (for lower level characters, often) and for obvious logistical requirements.

They could give you no AP for it and simply require it for patching the walls, eh?
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.

Wall and door repair kits are necessary to rebuild your keep after it is torn down. Some prefer to spend AP, some prefer to spend gold, but you can't look at it as a cost to value equation. If you take a keep and don't repair it, the enemy can literally walk in and re-take it once you're gone. Repairing it gives you a chance for your npcs to hold on to the keep long enough for help to arrive. If you take keeps with a guild and you don't repair the walls, you will most likely be chastised for it, if it's noticed.

Siege repair kits are less than worthless, don't even waste your time with them. It's far more efficient and cost effective to just get a new siege engine. I try to keep a fire and regular ballistas plus at least a couple types of trebs normally stone and fire or stone and oil, 3-4 ballistas of each and 1-2 trebs of each heading out. I try to have at least 30 wall repair kits and 15-20 door repair kits.

I'm not saying it's not possible to figure out which kits he was talking about by looking at the clues he gave and doing some checking to see which kits cost what, and which kits give what, I'm saying it's stupid to expect people to do that when it would be so much easier and lead to a better discussion to just say what kits you're talking about in the first place.

I just sell mine, until you get a lot of space in your bags really no reason to use it, just repair when you go to town.
