Reward for bug reporting?

Hey folks!

I was just wondering, why there is no reward for reports.

DISCLAIMER: I have made some bug reports since beta. Maybe they haven't been adressed, so there I didn't get reward. But I'm quite sure there simply is none.

Still, every time I get myself to report a bug - may it be a big or small one - I always dare to make it, because ...
  • It doesn't help me (when it's not breaking my gameplay)
  • "Someone surely has mentioned it before"
But still the developers do benefit from every single bug report, because even re-reported issues may have new data to analyse.

Yet there is no real effort for doing a bug report. You don't even get messaged in any way, so as a player you can't even guess you have done something good.

So why not reward those players who do good to the game and the community? And by "reward" I don't think of items or real rewards. Just a "thank you" would be more than enough.

Raw concepts:

1. A Thank You note

I'm quite sure you use a bug tracking system. Is it possible to also track the names involved to this bug? For that way you could track all player names who were involved solving a problem. After a bug is checked as solved, those players receive a really simple note like.
"You have done a bug report recently, that lead us to solve a problem. We're glad you're part of our community. Keep up the good work!"
You don't even need to put items or gold in it. It's just that a player gets feedback, which then tells him that he haven't wasted his time for typing a bug report and also is good for his feelings.
This player is then encouraged to make another bug report and help again.

2. Achievements

When those reports are tracked anyway, while checking solved, a player's bug solver timer is counted up. You may then implement simple achievements like:
  1. Help solving 1 bug
  2. Help solving 10 bugs
  3. Help solving 50 bugs
Again, this doesn't help a player directly, but it again gives feedback to the player that he has contributed to the community and encourages him again.

3. Just give those guys Crowns

... because it's a win-win situation. It would be more than enough to give a player just about 10 Crowns if he helps solving a bug. Just remember that every report gives additional information and data for helping the developers. This may result in saving some time when they don't have to find an own way to reproduce one bug.
With 10 Crowns you can't buy the world but again you don't lose enough "Crown buying power" so that they won't spend money.

Keep in mind, that I always spoke about "when they helped solving a bug", because this also prevents from "bug report abuse".
I also don't think that such a system would lead to bug abusing. Even now the devs have to sort out "false reports", so there may be a little more effort when this comes out. But the tides will even and both sides will benefit from it.

The reward for bug reporting is -hopefully- having the bug removed.
I honestly think that should be enough.
If you can be anything, be kind.

No, it's you'll pay crowns for bug fixing in future.

Do they actually get the Bug reports! I'm starting to think they don't due to the huge amount I've reported which are still in the game! Also from Beta!

    Sure, that's enough.
But as I said: I never know if my reports get into them anyway.

Sure we know that they read every ticket as they said it. But you simply have no feedback.
In (Game) Development one topic is pretty important: Feedback for the user.

1 fixed Bug shoudl be rewarded with 1 CP.
So there will be Trains of Bugfarmer wich test the whole game for free and Zos get a epic bug Report.

More bugs = more work. Who needs more work?
    You can get bugfixes if:
    1 minor bugfix=you pay 500crowns
    1 moderate bugfix=you pay 1500-3000crowns
    1 major bugfix=you pay 5000-10000crowns
It's a good deal. Think about it.

The keyword here is "hopefully". If there is too little hope for the bug to get fixed, the reward is too small for people to bother with it.
