A ganker is pretty much anyone who ambushes other players in PvP. They can be alone, in pairs or small groups, or in numbers equal to several raids. When you sneak in PvP, you become invisible to the enemy unless a) they use an ability such as Radiant Magelight or Revealing Flare, b) they used Detection Potions, or c) you exit Stealth.
