[POLL] : Quest for the Cure (Vampire and Werewolf)

I understand the need in an MMO to have an option for a player scratched or bitten by a vampire (NPC or PC) to be able to say, "uh..not interested" and get cured rather quickly.

However those that choose to complete the quest and actively accepted the consequences for both Werewolf and Vampire should have to (in my opinion) undertake a epic quest to get this cured.

Post what you think about the idea below.

Yes, I think players who have actively accepted the consequences should have to undergo a complex quest for a cure.

No, I think the current "Talk to the guy in Mages Guild and instantly you are cured" is just fine.

Anyone who lowers themselves to accept Molag bals or Hircines "Gifts". Should be stuck that way permanently!

Very good point. I'm not opposed to permanent choices, but as the game changes.. I mean if so many want race changes, and can't commit to a character race..it might be a hard sell.

Agreed, they should have an epic quest to get cured.

I'm a big fan of anything that adds a cool experience like that to the game. The questline to find a cure for lycanthropy in Skyrim was great (the Companions storyline and quests were quite possibly my favorite part of Skyrim). If something like that existed, it might just make me cure all of my vampires and werewolves just to go through an interesting quest.

Of course, I'd likely cure each of them only to then go and re-infect them all... But it would be fun.

If this were a single player RPG I would be more inclined to have more of a punishment or permanent consequence for your decisions. But we need the ability to fluidly move from solo player questing mode into a group team member mode. My curiosity and potentially poor choices made while solo may stop me from fulfilling a needed role in my group.

If the risk of quest decisions is too severe it may stop people from experiencing aspects of the game. And their decisions would likely be guided by the opinions of other players, without really understanding how it would impact them specifically based upon their previous class, playstyle, or even previous quest consequences.

Possibly having some mechanic that allows a player to feed off of a group member which would completely nullify the negative impacts of vampirism, as well as the positive impacts, for the rest of the time while grouped, may work. Even I feel dumber for just having typed that.

And then there is the aspect that It is a game, and for some people it would just be more fun for them to be able to try something, undo it quickly, and move on to the next shiny thing.

I'm all for epic quests to cure vampirism once you go bloodsucker! Even though I wouldn't change my vampy and doggie alts...

Heck, I for one would even pout a crown cost to reversing that particular choice... buy scroll in crown store, use scroll to start de-vampification/lycantropy-cure quest... that way choices would matter, but those who really cannot stand it anymore have an option to escape their choosen fate... for a price...

But then, I think the same about faction defection or race changes and such, which are another can of worms...

The way I see it, if you were that determined to get infected, you should stick with it. If you change your mind down the road, you should have to work to be cured. That will make at least some people think twice before getting infected on a whim.
