A little help needed

My question is: Is there a way to slow down the rate of having to repair gear? The problem isn't because I'm dying its purely because sometimes I get hit unexpectedly because I'm not used to how the hit boxes are in the game. Now, I am pretty careful on what I do in combat which includes me rolling out of the nasty red highlighted areas and also avoiding projectiles.

I'm thinking that there's probably a simple answer to my question "Try not not get hit" or " be a bit more careful" but am I missing something? - Its just I'm only at VR 5 and I do not have whole lot of gold so at times I can't even afford to repair since I repaired not very long ago. I have been since working on getting more gold but the repair rate hurts when you are starting out.

Note: I know there is most likely a simple answer but I thaught I would check first.

Your gear degrades with xp earned rather than damage taken; you could be a healer at the back never taking damage and your gear would degrade just as quickly as the tank up front taking all the damage. My tip is either play with broken gear or use crown repair kits.

Wow I did not know that, l didn't realise something like that was in place. Thanks for the answer.

If you craft your own stuff there is a research trait that makes it less damage as well
