Vampirism fire weakness

Is it just me, or does it seem like the fire weakness associated with vampirism should scale with the level of vampirism? It does in every other elder scrolls iirc. A flat 40% more fire damage seems like a huge penalty for stage 1 vampirism. I personally think it should scale based on vampirism level. Something like 10% 20% 30% and 40% would be perfect. With the talk of a lycanthropy buff I can only hope vampirism will get looked at.

As in change with the stages you mean? I'd be game for this.. I just turned into a vampire so I can grab the achievements and I'm quite scared to go run gold key pledges now... Lol

That's exactly what I mean. In previous titles the weakness to fire associated with vampirism was initially small, but grew to be more of a threat as your vampirism stage grew.

I agree, at the moment being a stage 1 vampire is just… useless. More life regen (youpeee) and more vampire abilities cost ? Not even in Sheogorath's dream.
But with a lesser fire weakness, perhaps being a stage 1 vampire would be far more interesting.

I totally agree, 40% is too much for stage 1 or even Stage 2 Vampirism

thats why i chose lycanthropy over vampirism id rather deal with the werewolf not matching my play style then take tons of fire damage.

I too was wondering about the discrepancy between the description of vampirism in game, and what it actually does. I don't appear to get any bonuses at night, despite the lore of this game explicitly stating I should. Maybe they're talking about that perk that lets you go into sneak mode faster at night, which seems about as useful as horse armor to me.

I thought you can mitigate the fire vulnerability with spell resistance and fire resistance? I am a Dunmer DK with fire resistance racial passives, and planning to go vamp. So I've been collecting fire resistant items and using champion points to boost spell resistance. My question is, what else can I do to increase my spell resistance.

According to this video you can mitigate up to cap diminishing returns, why wouldn't anyone that is a vamp be doing this?

This video is old as hell. Testing has to be done again.

It caps so even at cap you're still taking 30% more fire damage then non vampire its high risk high reward and so it should be

You can totally do that, and I see no reason why vampires wouldn't, but that's effort that could be better served elsewhere if not for the crazy weakness to fire. Also part of what the others and I were saying it that it would better encourage feeding, and it just makes more sense in the context of an elder scrolls game.
