Console Suggestion Thoughts? 6/25/15

Let me start by saying I've been an avid WOW player for years but after playing this game I've started to love it, with certain reservations. As such I've been able to experience a lot of features both good and bad that you can have in a MMO. With that said below are some items that I believe most console players would LOVE. Let me know your thoughts.

1. Damage Meters: People are competitive by nature be it PVP or PVE being able to compare yourself to others output helps raise the bar and promote a far more satisfying gaming experience. PC users get addons that allow for this but console players want this as well.

2. Armor Swap: I can understand the complaints about in combat armor changes so perhaps take the WOW approach by allowing weapon swaps in combat and armor outside. The main reason for this is if your a tank you want to be able to switch to dps when your solo or risk grinding on adds. Also, items assigned to armor sets don't show when your selling or deconstructing which helps with the next option.

3. Lock Items to Prevent Destroy/Selling/Deconstructing: With so many inventory slots after questing for a few hours at the end of the night people just want to clear their bags and get back at it or call it a night. As such we go to the deconstruct tables and just spam the deconstruct options. But if we have multiple armor sets for say Tank/DPS or Heal/DPS then it's very easy to accidentally destroy your items. Destiny added this recently to users satisfaction maybe borrow from that?

4. Group Finder: Lets admit it this system is flawed. I constantly stay in queue for hours only to finally get a group formed with just 3 players and inevitably either one leaves or both which puts you back at the beginning and you have to wait some more. Suggestions: The group finder is buried in the social section maybe make it one of the top level menus so that more people are aware of it and thus more likely to use it. Make users choose role before queuing a common statement is that it defaults to dps which leaves us short on tank and heals for the queues making them pick each time would eliminate this. If already in a partial group when queuing you can prompt a role check for all in the party.

5. Teleport to Dungeon: When we are lucky enough to get a group the confusion begins. I queue for Any Dungeon and get one I've not discovered yet and i can't find it on the map or the specific dungeon the group was formed for flashes by so fast i miss which one i should be going to. If there was a travel to dungeon option it would help a lot I think most would agree.

6. Skill Resets: I believe I seen a post already on this but it would be great to get either a Free reset or reduced charge reset once per week or whatever timeline you decide works best.

7. Character Race/Class Change: New players that spend a lot of time and even experienced may decide the class they choose isn't exactly what they want now but instead of starting fresh they could potentially change their race/class. Players would love this feature and it could be an extra revenue flow for the game. Another from my WOW time this feature was put in there but to reduce abuse it was put in for a fee of $60 if i recall correctly but people paid to get it so might be worth checking into.

These are just the thoughts at the top of my list of wants/suggestions.

    1. Why would console users get this added to the UI when PC players have been begging for over a year and we just get told to go use an addon.

    2. Not going to happen

    3. That's do-able. Or you can just, you know, pay attention in the first place.

    4. Group finder has never worked. Ever.

    5. Works fine on PC. Needs to be fixed for consoles.

    6. No. Skill respecs are dirt cheap. They used to cost twice as much.

    7. No. You have 8 character slots in which to try out the various races and classes. Use them.

These are suggestions for Console players so if your a PC user already using an add-on please don't even bother replying. PC users complain then an add-on is created by someone else to satisfy that complaint thus reducing the overall complaints but console players do not have that ability as such I believe more and more people will continue to ask for these things that PC players already have access to via add-on. As for 8 Character slots you can have 50 in wow yet they make a fortune with people changing class/race/faction so yeah putting that feature in could provide a revenue for them.

I know this is a thread for consoles, but what you are not understanding is that PC players don't want to have to rely on 3rd party addons for basic functions that should have already been in the game. We want these things added to the UI just as much as console players do. If Zenimax added these things to the UI for console players, they damn better well add it for PC players too. Console just came out. We have been begging for these UI changes for over a year.

The one thing I would like to see for console, pc too if you guys don't have it, is the authority to allow guild members to see the items in the guild bank, without having to give the withdrawal authority.

Agreed. Using add-ons creates new problems for us. What happens when an add-on author decides to quit maintaining an add-on? We're SOL. What if they're on vacation and an update comes along that breaks the add-on? We're SOL. How about it doesn't just break the add-on, but actually causes game issues for us? We're SOL and can't even play the game until we figure out what is causing our issues. That doesn't event mention that we need to depend on these wonderful people to write these add-ons - working for free. Add-ons are meant to ADD things. If something is important enough to be added to the base game for console, it should be important enough for PC to have to.

Did you know on PC if we have autoloot on we don't get to know what we pick up? We have to depend on an add-on even for that.

Now, back on topic... I do agree with having damage meters/buff trackers added to all platforms of the game. These not only help the min-maxers/elite of the game, they also help the average player. Fortunately I primarily play on PC.. but without that prior experience I would sure have a hard time getting a "feel" for how long a particular buff lasts when I play on PS4. I used add-ons to help me get that feel. Combat logs can also help you learn what skills work well together, or even just know what was going on in the fight to help improve yourself.

A way to remember armor/skill sets that you could change out of combat (only!) would be a fantastic addition. Trying to change out your gear and skills is frustrating. Personally I quest in a completely different set-up than when I'm in group. I use questing to help level skills, but heading into dungeons I am far more focused on healing.. and therefore have different gear and skills I use. I imagine everyone gets to a point in the game where they have a few different set-ups for what they do. I COULD live without this.. but it would be handy.

Locking items would be amazing. Not sure how many times I deconstructed something when I was holding onto it for research.

Yes, the group finder could use some work.

Teleport to dungeon? I'm sure someone in the group knows where they are going.. ask them to head there.. then use the "travel to player" feature. I personally never have issues with this.

To me, I think free skill resets should work as they always have. You pay. If a skill gets massively changed - they reset those anyways. While your levelling respeccing is cheap. Once you are a higher level - you have the skill points to spare. I like that sometimes when you make a choice - it means something.

PC does have that, and I agree that console NEEDS this. As a guild leader in both PC and PS4, I have no idea how to work bank privileges on PS4. You either give everyone access - or no one. When you give no-one access (or a select few) it becomes useless or a bank for friends - as member without access have no way to request items.

-In Closing- I think many of the changes console players are looking for... PC players are also looking for. As well, things PC is looking for.. console is also looking for. We are all playing the same game here - we are one community. We should work together :) (And hey.. some of us play both ;))

I don't disagree with these being needed for PC but as I said in my initial post PC users end up with add-ons which reduce the number of complaints but with console users that's not an option so it's likely to be a bigger voice. Unlike PC's there is no chat feature in group if they don't have headsets so you have to remember their wild names go to mail and send them a message to communicate which isn't simple. A party/group/zone chat option for the console could help in this regard.

Oh I understand - believe me.. PC isn't quiet about it just because there are add-ons. Anyways, I do agree with it, I find it hard to communicate when people don't have mics - it actually seems easier to use the PS app on my phone and send a PSN message rather than mail.. mail isn't instant :( Which is another can of worms. I haven't had a chance to do dungeons on PS4 yet (I transferred so group finder most definitely won't work for me as I can't imagine there being a whole bunch of high vet levels yet), personally, if there was no mic - I'd look at the group screen and port to the player - after waiting a bit so someone has headed to the dungeon. Heck, I even do that on PC out of laziness (instead of finding a wayshrine to port to the dungeon). Of course, if everyone picked "any dungeon" that won't work.. because no one will know where to go. :/ I really think the lack of communication is causing the issue here though - and would fix this AND other issues if there was better communication on console.
