Wabbajack not working

I have done the quest 3 times, but the wabbajack will not fire. It turns red and fizzles out. I hard booted my machine twice. I have it in my main hand and I stand close to the acolytes, but nothing. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

does it works against trees or sky etc? or doesn't fires at all? try to dodgeroll too, it fixes many bugs; equiping another staff like fire etc can you fire any shot during that quest step?

I finally got it working, apparently you cannot hold down the right trigger like you are doing a heavy hit. You must just pull the trigger once... go figure. thanks anyway Olysja.

Ahh, yeah it requires a light attack rather than heavy.

Yeah, this threw me too.

I had trouble even with quick tapping if I wasn't at melee range this time on Xbox.

IT was just phutzing little sparkles and I was like NOOOOES Wabbajack is a fizzle stick!!

Then I accidentally got close to a guy and.. ZAP draemora.. agh none of my skills worked with waabbajack!!!( forgot and had all weapon skills and heals on skill bar 1)... arg.. gear 2 gear 2 GEAR @(^&*%&*& 2 damnit. I forgot what button it is!... OW my face!!

Not sure if this will help or not. For some reason after equipping the Wabbajack , whatever your main weapon is defaults back to that staff. No matter what I'd do nothing would work. Something kept nagging at me , I had a feeling this was something easy. Try simply using the D-pad for swapping weapons and the Wabbajack should be good to go. I finally was able to finish it doing that. Hope this helps guys n gals.

The light attack holds true as well , so keep that in mind.
