Question about research and armor/weapon traits.

So I've read a lot of guides on blacksmithing but there a few answers I could not find.

These questions are:

1. When researching traits does it have to be on heavy armor? If a piece of medium/light armor I have has a trait I want to research for blacksmithing, will I be able to research it off that medium/light armor piece?

2. Does it matter the level of the item? Can I search guild stores for cheap level 10 green items with certain traits I want and then research those?

3. Does it matter if the armor is BoE or if I have already equipped it?

1- Researching an item has to be exact for that armor type. You cannot research a Medium Armor Chest piece on Blacksmtihing.

2- Level of the item doesn't matter for research.

3- Item can be BOE, Bound or BOP and can still be researched.

Keep in mind when researching traits... you will only know it for that specific piece.

Example:
You research exploration on Heavy Boots. (and for the sake of the example, imagine this is the only trait you have ever researched)

-You will not know (or be able to craft) exploration on any other boots (aka - will not know it for medium and light)
-You will not know exploration on any other heavy armor piece (you won't know it for chest - ONLY for boots)
Essentially, the only item you will be able to craft with exploration is Heavy boots (of any level - you know, as long as you have your crafting levelled up enough)

Hence why (as answered above) it does need to be the exact item you want researched.
