Invisible Friends?

I was playing on the NA server last night and in a party with a couple of my friends who were also playing on the NA server. We decided to meet up and do some trading but when we went to the Othrenis wayshrine to meet up the two of them could see each other but they could not see me and I could not see them. They also did not show up in my "in game" friends list and I did not show up in theirs. I tried rebooting the game and re-logging but that did not change anything.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Are there different "instances" of the NA server? Is this a known issue that they are working on?

yes there are different instances in the mega servers.

when you find your friends you would need to "travel to player" then you will be able to see them.

How can I travel to player if they don't show up in my list, nor me in theirs, and I cannot find them via the search in the friends list?

    Hi @yarder !

Is it just at the wayshrine where you cannot see each other? Or does this happen in other parts of the map as well?

We were in the general vicinity of the wayshrine, actually two different wayshrines, Othrenis and Viveks Antlers.

Until they fix the friends list, the only way to do this is form a group (invite to group lets you type in their name) then travel to player from the group screen.

Thanks for the info, @yarder ! While this sounds like it likely falls in line with some known issues regarding gamertags and friends lists, we'll be sure to pass this information along to ensure it's seen by our engineers.

Can one actually invite to group even if they are your XBL friend but don't show up or can't be found in your ESO friends list or ESO friend search?

Yeah. The friends list should work like other games and pull people in from Xbox live. It currently doesn't work.

The search is supposed to search the list that never shows up mentioned above (say if you have 100 xbox live friends), so it doesn't do anything.

If you got to social, group, create group, then invite player there will be a box you can fill in to invite anyone ( you need to spell it right, use correct capital letters and spaces to whatever their Gamer Tag is...good luck if it is wE1rD ) then click the invite button under the box. they will get a notification that makes a noise and pops up at the top of their ingame menu. Once they accept they will be in group (you will see names in upper left of screen.

Pick someone to be the person everyone travels to (if there is more than 1 friend).
The person that will be traveling goes back into the social menu and picks groups. You will see group members on right. You can select group member and one of the options is "travel to". You will teleport (for free) to the nearest wayshrine to that person and be put in the same instance and they should not be invisible anymore.

    Invisible friends is 100% normal.

BTW. People that are grouped after that first teleport to get to dame phase can travel all over and should stay visible, even if they enter delves, house, cities or use other wayshrines. you get kinda tied together. If you aren't grouped all bets are off and you could split at any time you cross an invisible area border.

    Thanks for the clarification!

Hopefully this thread will help other people who can't see their friends either. :)
