Enemy players whispering you after a fight

Been pvp'ing a while now, mainly non-vet. Got into some running fights with a sorceror, and after a few fights over the course of the day, he kills me. No biggie, win some lose some.

But, this was the first time an enemy player immediately whispers me and cusses at me calling me a scrub and so forth. LOL what a tool. Was a good fight that lasted a good 3 minutes, spoiled by these player who clearly takes the game too personally lol.

But why is he allowed to whisper me in this manner? I don't want enemy players talking to me after fights. Is this by design, or something unintended? If by design, re-think it. Nothing spoils good fun PvP faster than RL jerks cussing at you because they are either gloating or pissed.

Normally it is not possible to send tells to enemy faction's players, but there is a workaround.

You can prevent that player from sending you tells by using the normal ignore feature - rightclick his name in chat, and select 'ignore' from the context menu.

You must be on PC, because on console we can't even talk to our own faction.

Taking into account that you are allowed to play cross faction with others even in guilds (like our Arena dueling guild on EU) it's a good feature to be able to whisper each other across factions.

The trash talk is quite low I must say and there is still the ignore option available.

Haha, its so funny when they start to whisper after losing. I killed a guy once and he got mad because I was spamming Proximity Detonation, not even sure how thats possible but I got a good laugh.

You need to look on the bright side buddy. If someone is trash-talking to you it's probably cause you hurt his/her ego in some way, so take that as a compliment instead of getting upset over it.

If it gets too much, just add them to your ignore list. Don't take insults from strangers and randoms personally in-game, like you don't irl.

From my experience though the community of ESO is pretty good. 99% of the whispers I get are usually friendly in manner and I enjoy the social aspect of being able to have a quick chat with the enemy, so I personally hope this does not get removed.

I whisper enemy players more than I whisper allies, if that says something. It's a fun part of ESO

This doesn't happen all that often, but I agree, its annoying and should be able to be toggled off. Ignoring works, but the messages still have a way of taking away from the experience.

I play pvp for fun, not to hear the rantings of angry people. Some of you are into it, that's fine by me. All I want is it to be fine by ZOS that I don't have to hear that crap.

Learn to laugh at it, i don't go an hour without recieving some kind of abuse. I just take a screeny and show my guild so we can all have a good laugh

Sometimes you get stupid whispers, whether you win a fight (hacker, cheater, noob etc) and when you lose (noob, haha, nice try, etc)

But also sometimes you get friendly tells (good fight, can I dual you plz) which end up in a nice conversation.

If you really don't want any whisper, you can set yourself as "offline". Sadly also guildies, friends also cannot whisper you then.

I just take the gamble people will send personal stupid whispers. Mostly (also from enemy faction) they are pretty friendly to me. If someone in exception decides to send "hate" tells, he just goes to the ignore list.

Don't take the tells personal. It is an mmo and there will always be rude people. And even the nicest people irl can afford to be a @sshole in an online game since it's anonymous.

But that's what makes a mmo great imho. All sorts of personalities ingame. Years from now people will still talk about "can you remember that loudmouth that lived near kingscrest keep? Yeah a real *** eh".

If everybody was nice, the game would be pink and we would have flying rainbow whales as pets

We console players can't really whisper so I like to um, do the weak push-up emote on top of their corpses...

I'm okay with the concept of being able to /whisper /tell the enemy as some do turn into friendly conversation relating to what type of build you're rocking or gear sets... while others are hate whispers/tells that I just find hilarious and troll further.

The one thing I do not like however, is when someone sends you a tell and places you on ignore so you cannot respond back. My thought is if they put you on ignore you should not be able to whisper/tell the person you ignored. Granted you could ignore them right back, but that is a hassle in the first place.

what if they're nice but in all seriousness there are players that have a constructive and friendly talk with you after a fight which makes it worth it, just laugh off the trash talking whispers

Mostly sore losers, I introduce them to the ignore list. Worst thing you can do is send a hate tell, that tells me what ever I am doing is getting under your skin, guess what I am going to keep doing it even more now..LOL

I run in a small static group one of my group mates, get a tell from an EP player, telling him we are going to ruin the game, because we show up everywhere they are and they can not get anything done.. that was a LOL,

Eh, it happens, usually laden with typos, poor grammar and an overall massacre of sentence structure. It goes with anonymity on the internet. I liken it to driving in traffic and nasty road rage. Don't be discouraged by it too much. Echoing the sentiments of similar replies, there are a lot of really awesome people in this game, don't let one moron ruin it for you. School starts up in a month and a half, they'll soon be occupied elsewhere.

My advice is to learn how to whisper enemy players,
Not to trash talk them,

I like to ask them about their builds and how they do things,
I have learned more from enemy players than people in my own faction

Oh and i have asked Neill ll if Radiant destruction is the only skill he has on his bar.

I don't think I've ever gotten a rage whisper, losing or winning. Been blessed fighting cool people with manners.

I've had a pile of skillless no hopers who had nothing to do with my demise teabag me though. But apparently thats a social thing.

So i not alone with this. I suggest never ignore them but use your troll skills. Last time i trolled my hater for 30 min till he finally gave up.

Same here, most of the whispers I get are from really cool people . I think I have only gotten two or three trash-talk whispers. Teabagging on the other hand....

I get rage whispers all the time but I can't figure out how to send them myself. /w theirname doesn't work for me all the time for some reason.
