Advanced Currency System

Something I would LOVE to see ESO use is a more advanced currency system. It's been a year and I know several players (myself included) who have a million+ gold.

I think implementing a copper, silver, gold system would be highly beneficial for a number of things including the economy, lore, and overall game experience.

As it would stand today gold simply becomes copper.

100 Copper pieces -> 1 Silver piece
100 Silver pieces -> 1 Gold piece

This would take my 1,000,000 gold pieces and give me 100 gold pieces. I think it would be so much more satisfying (Not to mention lore accurate) to pay 15 gold for that legendary VR14 piece of gear than it does paying 150,000 gold.

This would reduce inflation the ridiculousness of inflation for years to come :smiley:

Please let me know your thoughts on the matter!

    Nah, if they were to implement something like this it would have to be done like this:
    1 platinum = 5 gold
    1 gold = 2 electrum
    1 electrum = 5 silver
    1 silver = 10 copper

    That's the way D&D programmed my brain for currency conversion between coins of different metals, and if they were to do it in any other way I'd end up very confused.

    you just want to introduce decimal gold and divide everyone's gold by 10000?

    I personally have no issues with the current currency system. Besides, it would not be lore accurate according to Elder Scrolls lore, as the currency has always been gold/Septims. The copper/silver/bronze currency is found in other games, such as Dragon Age.

    Printing Larger Bills does not eliminate Inflation. Zimbabwe is a recent example of that.

    It might be nice to have a Copper/Silver/Gold currency system, but it would still come down to how much are you willing to spend on what is for sale, and how much do you want for that which you are selling.

    But that could also give more of a chance to screw up prices when listing things, as it stands now I see items that people wanted to sell for 5,000 being listed for 50 gold. So, I meant 50 Gold when I instead chose 50 Coppers, it could be a real bummer.

    Also, since the Currency has no weight, there is no real advantage to having larger denominations to reduce weight or encumbrance.
    Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    Regardless of the breakdown, I would hate to see this turn into a Diablo-esque style game where items are costing millions and millions of gold.
