Faolchu was crazy hard... But then Faolchu Reborn was crazy easy; what's up with that? And does anyone know what the difference is with the "past" quest line choices?

Falchu shouldn't be that hard. Maybe you forgot to

lure him into the fire.

If you chose to kill Falchu

soldiers will help you to kill him, nothing changes when you get back to the present.

If you rescue your wife

The soldiers will be killed by Falchu so you have to defeat him on your own. When you get back to the present you'll meet a grandchild of the warrior who killed Falchu

Also:

The mages who sent you back are now both female. They express confusion when you point this out to them and insist that they've always been that way. They seem to be under the impression that YOUR gender was supposed to change, and remark that it hasn't.
