I'm a Healer... WHY are the Dungeon Finder queues so long for me?

Xbox One NA DC Healer. Mid 30s right now, but this has been an issue since day one.

I'm a long time MMO player. Healer is my favourite role to play, so I naturally rolled up a Breton Templar and among the quest grind, I wanted to get into the Dungeon grind as well.

Now anyone who's been in the MMO scene a while knows all too well that the majority of the playerbase avoids Healing and Tanking roles like the plague. It's a thankless task, but a role I personally relish.

In ESO, the basic dungeon group design is 2 DPS, 1 tank, 1 healer. Going on past experience, that should mean groups are SCREAMING for Healers and Tanks all day, every day because 25% of the player base are not healers or tanks in this game!

So you can imagine my surprise (and frustrating horror) when I'm sitting on the NA 'Megaserver' and find my Dungeon Queues when I'm a healer being 15, 20 and even 30 minutes long!!!! 0.o

What is going on with that? I've never played a MMO with healer queues THAT long before!

Then of course you get to enjoy the whole 'everyone teleport to the dungeon yourself' routine which I thought left MMOs 5 years ago.

C'mon guys, I really want to help out fellow ESO players but the dungeon finder tool in this game is frustrating to use in the extreme right now.

Fellow gamers want a healer in the group, I want to help them... why is this game design making it so difficult?

Because everyone selects all three roles while doing none of them effectively. I can't remember the time I even saw a proper tank.

I'm willing to bet your carry the team 90% of the time.

because group dungeons pre 50 are a waste of time in this game, xp is crap, dungeons are pretty short and unimaginative, loot is meh

I queued as tank for 8 hours....and than just used zone chat to get a group in 1 hour.
Still the group finder was searching lol.
I hope it works better on console without zone chat :/

Another issue may be that Templars (the only class with a dedicated healing skill line which means you can slot a heal or two and not have to use a Resto staff) are a very popular choice atm......

They have the ability to be more than just a good healer and I've seen a lot of threads where new console players asking for the best class to play have been given the advice to go with Templar....

This might just be pushing your wait times up, as people are classing themselves as healers.

Also remember at lower levels anyone knowing how to use a Restoration Staff adequately can easily heal in a dungeon. This again could be leading to people classifying themselves as healers on the group finder.

Everyone knows a DPS will wait longest to find a group....

So hey presto ''I've got healing skills I'm a healer maybe I'll get a group faster!!''
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"
I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

Have you tried running anything on solo? It's beyond ridiculously easy. I can't imagine that the loot would be much different tbh. Given that and the fact there is such a lack of anything resembling a properly balanced group , theres really no need.

Journey dungeons should be grindable, what ESO's arent, theres no reason to do them again, or maybe console sales were just bad, I find it very odd they havent added more campaigns, even PC had 9 Campaign for EU at launch, all full at prime time, I honestly expected something like 20 Campaign at least. That could explain the urge for P2W boosters too.

Next-gen console players didnt warm up for ESO? Good thing is that more people are moving from last-gen consoles to new-gen it should mean we have steady flow of new players for years to come.
