Remove your friend from PSN and add him again. Had this issue as well with a few friends, tried this and it worked.

How come after the latest Xbox One patch, I no longer have any friends on my Friends List??? I'm not deleting them because this does nothing. I only see the same repeated answers with no true results. Does anyone actually know why or what to do to fix this, or should I just wait for terrible Bethesda to put another patch out & pray it fixes this issue?

I don't know the answer to the issue with the friends list, I just want to remind that you can't hang this [snip] on Bethesda. Bethsoft didn't make this mess and they're not responsible for fixing it.

I am on a PS4 and did not have any issues with my friends until after the update. Now they do not show and if I try to add them, it says they are already friends. I am talking about the friends in game, not on PSN.

Hey same problem here on PS4

I only see 1 of my friend in the friend list, my buddy just bought the game yesterday, he doesn't show in the in-game friend list, can't re-add him from there.

Will try to delete him from PSN (and ask him to to do the same on his side) and RE ADD him tonight, will keep you guys posted

    such a shame tho

Bethesda has no part in the creation, running and updating of this game! It is Zenimax.

To go back on track, I have the same issue since Saturday on PS4.

Been having the same problem on PS4 and was hoping that you may of had a response from the devs, or a go between, but obviously not. I hope someone can give some advice outside of deleting and re adding my friends, I've got at least 40 to do it with if that's the only option.

Just found this on another related thread thought it may help
    Hi folks,

We posted this in another thread about the same issue, but it's worth sharing again here.

This is an issue we're actively looking into. What we know so far is this seems to be impacting those who are adding existing friends from either Xbox Live or PlayStation Network to the in-game friends list. Here are a few additional details that may help:
    • Only friends who have logged into the same ESOTU console server as you will show up on your in-game friends list.
    • The sync between the Xbox Live and PSN friends lists and ESOTU can take several hours to fully populate.
    • On Xbox One, you must be mutual friends with someone, meaning you need to be following them, and they must be following you in order for them to show up on your in-game friends list in ESOTU.

end of the day we shouldn't have to do that sort of crap. and since this new patch my friends list has been complete wiped out to zero, nice one ZOS great job.
