I'm curious how much longer does zenemax plan to support this game? Because honestly for a MMO to survive it needs constant updates and new content monthly at least. Adding in rare items that every gets from the same random generation pool(perfect roe) isn't going to cut it. Don't get me wrong ESO is filled with content and things to do however the quests eventually run out.... I think that for ESO to survive the year there has to be more quests added. I understand they are adding new areas which will most likely come with new quests which is good I just feel once u get to vet a few times this game gets repetitive like highly repetitive... Idk I think I'm venting a little bit but I'd hate to see ESO die

PC players have been waiting nearly a year for "new content". We are not going to be hearing any details regarding the Imperial City until some time in July. Which means, most likley, they will make an announcement at QuackCon and then there will be the PTS.. so we won't be seeing anything until most likely September if we are lucky.
Far too many characters to list any more.

Feels like the game is dying for the long standing players.

Constant bugs and issues that find there way into patches etc...

It seems as though the only content you get are broken patches that fix something they broke the patch before and around we go on the magic roundabout.

Latest really annoying bug that I've encountered again which crept into the patches just after 1.6 release, is randomly getting stuck on the floor and cannot move happened about 10 times yesterday which requires you do /stuck to get out of it.

Do most MMOs get new content at least once a month? I know Guild Wars 2 did for a while, until they switched to making an actual expansion instead, but I got the impression from their players that was exceptional (and interestingly until they said they were making an expansion many people were adamant smaller, regular updates were a bad idea, now of course they want them to drop the expansion and go back to that).

I've not followed other MMOs closely enough to know. I know they get updates regularly, but I assume it was like ESO - mostly bug fixes and balance changes and occasionally new systems, not whole new areas and quest chains.

Are you kidding me, this game is still full priced and sells. They havent even used free trial or anything, not to mention ES series is going to live, in the future we get ES6, ES7, and those are gonna boost ESO's population too. Also pure F2P is gonna bring at least 2 year of life into this.

Some players warned that content dry spells, quality lapses, etc were the norm once letting the pay-to-play subscription go...they were accused of being "doom and gloom" bringers and other names of the sort.

    They deserve apologies.

I don't think any player should apologize to any other player for how ZOS has chosen to run their business.

I hate that players are gnashing at the throats of other players over how this game is being managed.

Games do not need constant updates to survive.

Games with monthly fees need constant updates so people keep paying the fee. As the fee in ESO is optional that is not the case.

The game is active and has stayed active over time. Some people leave, some people start and some people left but returned. It is a normal flow of players.

Off course, in the long term they need to put in new things and they have sufficient plans for it, but the release rate doesn't have to be as high as you want it. If you are bored, just play something else for a while. nobody cares and more important, you won't worn yourself out!

The game is dying. They haven't given us a proper content update since November last year, which was the Undaunted pledges and City of Ash veteran... And they will probably have us wait at least two to three more months for the Imperial City :|

ESO is a brilliant game with an incredible vision, but ZOS have just been letting it dry out.. 70% of my friends have already stopped playing and it is quite visible in my guilds too, maybe by the time they update the game there won't be anyone interested in playing it.

When people say the game is dying, what they really mean is that they're personally getting bored with it. The game is actually very much alive. People come, people go, and people stay. It's no different in any other MMO. If for whatever reason you're not having fun playing a game then move on and do something different, don't try and make out that the game is on its last legs. This one certainly isn't.

LOL I never really considered GW2 an MMO but I know majority do. NO it is not normal for MMO's to get monthly content. Normally it is monthly patches that fix bugs. About twice a year for major update patches.

Today the problem where everyone thinks monthly updates are a given because the MMO's of today have made questing too easy and leveling way to fast. Everyone expects to get to end game in a week. Use to take us a year or more to get to that point and I WISH they would go back to that. Those games were much more fun and had a great community behind it. Man I miss them!

ESO has been rather sparse on content update, but the improvements and quality of life changes we've seen since the launch of the game have been formidable.

I think this is the perfect time for returning and new players to jump into the fray, here's hoping we see content produced quicker (with quality not being sacrificed) now that the game has launched on all it's desired platforms.

New content? They don't need new content as what they have done instead is obtain a huge batch of new players via consoles.

To those new players, there is a vast amount of unexplored content.

Unfortunately yes, we as long term players are feeling left out but simple economics means that they'd rather lose a few irate long term players if it means the are obtaining a vast amount of new players without changing anything.

I think by their logic they could argue the game is now "free" once you've bought it but no I've been subscribing since day 1 (and still subscribing) - technically I've paid around £40 ish for the release game and then around £135 since it has been released.

£175 for a game with no new content is pretty shocking by anyone's standards. Roll on Fallout 4 so I can ditch this.

He's also forgeting the release dates of the expansions... Worlords of dreanor wasn't released until november 2014 and not 2013. WoW usually releases a new expansion once every two year and new content around once every 3 month. With new content I mean one new raid and every 6 month they may add a new zone and another raid. Mists of pandaria for example was the latest patch for 2 years. It started with having 1 raid at release and 5 when Warlords of dreanor got released. 2 years is 24 month, divide it by 5 and you get 4.8. It all depends how you count it but I wouldn't divide it by 4 even tho one already existed since a new raid and new content came out with the release of the new expansion. But that gives you a new raid/content once every 4.8 month during Mists of Pandaria.

We were promised content every 4-6 weeks. We dont get content in 6 months much less 6 weeks. So dont hold your breath for IC. It was announced twice now and we still dont know any details other than "soon" or "we will say something in July". Not we will get the content in July but they will "start talking about it" in July.

This is what I have been saying. The whole content stagnation thing has driven off pretty much everyone I know. Some are now heavily invested in other MMOs and will not ever be returning. For those of us who like the game we are waiting (and waiting) for them to finally get around to adding new zones and new stuff to do.

They keep messing with game mechanics when they would be much better off forgetting the whole removal of vet ranks and nonsense like that. Content is what is needed. Not yet another revamp of leveling etc.

The way Guild Wars 2 did it was to have 4 teams each working on separate updates, with other people working on general purpose things or things like overall story arcs that applied to all the updates. That way each team had a starting point and 4 months to work out the details, make it and test it.

Whether that system worked is debatable, some people really liked it, others thought each update was too short, too simple or too difficult or "didn't count as content" because it wasn't what they personally wanted to do that month.

I don't know, but I suspect (based on my own experience trying to do similar things in my work) that it also caused issues internally, with teams competing for resources or being unable to get the best person for a job to do it because they happened to be assigned to another team.

You all do realize that PC players were never intended to be the majority player base, right? In past MMOs, PC players dominated, but now with MMOs coming to consoles as well, PC players are the minority... so being concerned with bringing new content just to appease PC players I'm sure was not in their top ten concerns; having a successful console launch on two platforms and luring in hundreds of thousands of new players, was. Now that it has been done, they can move forward with finalizing new content, fixing bugs, etc. Not sure why PC players are complaining, because this should have been expected. Also keep in mind that console launch was expected to happen LONG before it did, so past talk about future content I'm betting was with the expectation that console launch would have already occurred.

Furthermore, DCUO has gone to a monthly release of content, time will tell how successful they will be with it. In the past, they tried to meet the new DLC every three months, but have decided to break it down into smaller parts released sooner.
