Just wondering how these work?
New to the game (ps4)..and when i go to skull and crossbones, nothing appears?.
Are they on a fixed timer,or do i do something to trigger them?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, they're on a spawn timer. If you're in a zone that's not very populated, odds are the boss will be right there when you get there. If you're in a zone with a decent player population, probably not. I couldn't tell you exactly how long the timer is, but for a world boss I've rarely had to wait that long.

Open world bosses appear some time after they're vanquished, but I don't know how much time is necessary (I don't think they're all of equal time lengths, either). I know of one that requires a "trigger" but it's just an easier NPC that you kill (who is at the spawn point) and then the actual boss monster arrives after the death of the easier NPC.

There is one boss per public dungeon (that I'm aware of) that requires triggering, but it's a different trigger for each of these particular bosses (the other bosses in public dungeons are on timers like the open world bosses).

*Edited to fix a "they're" issue.

Public dungeons are actually on a 2 up system not a timer (bosses in Cyrodil delves are the same way). it can look like a timer, but really it is just other people killing other bosses. It was tested extensively back in the day.

Only 2 are up at a time and they are random. You have to kill one of the up bosses for a different one (maybe the same one) to respawn.. usually like 5 mins. There are a few bigger places that have a 3 up, and at least 1 place in Cyrodil with only like 3 bosses where only 1 is up at once.

The zones do reset the bosses every so often to clear guys stuck in walls etc.

Also beware sometimes certain bosses only give achievement credit if you were the last to hit them (bosses of all types). They keep fixing it, but it creeps back randomly on some bosses a lot.

I think they're on a 15 minute timer. Just bring out your lute and play for a bit while you wait.
