Importance of choosing race

Hallo! So I just bought the game today, and after a quick playing session, I found the racial skills in my skillmenu. Then I did a google search on that skillcategory, and if it really matters. But I didn't really find an answer. At least not a propper one. My favourite race is Altmer, and I almost always chose them in the past Elder Scrolls, but I'm worried about the viability of my characters later in the game. I also have a faible for contraditionary characters, e.g. Orc Wizards and Assassin Altmers.
So my questions are:
Are racial skills important? Especially in PVP?
Is the Altmer Race fine for Sorc and Nightblade?
Is the Orismer Race fine for Sorc and Nightblade?

Also: 4. What is a good source to follow on builds and information about the game (except reddit)?

The race choice can be useful for maximising benefit of some classes (eg stamina bonuses for stamina skill based characters, magicka bonuses for magicka skill based characters, sneak bonuses for sneaky types etc.) but all races can effectively play all classes .. do what seems fun to you.

Don't worry about the first racial that boosts the leveling rate of a gear type, eventually you will max out that anyway.

    I have found http://tamrieljournal.com a good source

Edit - and yes, thanks @eliisra http://tamrielfoundry.com/ is also good

Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

Racial passives matters when it comes to your build. It's not about class, because any class can do any build.

Altmer is a top choice for a magicka build. It doesn't matter if it's a DK, NB, sorc or templar.

Orismer has stamina and health bonuses, so helpful passives for a tank or a stamina build. But there's better races for that at the moment, like Imperial or Redguard.

Casual players that only do quests and such, will tell you that racial passives doesn't matter. For that playstyle it's true. Race is irrelevant for solo quests, delves or dungeons.

But for endgame PvE and PvP, playing the right race is a nice boost. Having passives that supports and buffs your actual build, can be a life safer in PvP or push those extra numbers that places you on the leaderboard in PvE.

Tamriel Foundry if you want inspiration and up-to-date builds, in my opinion.

I feel like Imperials are still a little overwhelming. :/
But I do think that people should pay attention to their racial class to take advantage of whatever bonuses they can get.

    Thanks for the answers guys!

Are the boni really that strong for pvp?
So an altmer with a bow and an orismer with a staff are free kills?
Would there be problems finding groups (PvE and PvP) and stuff at higher levels, using the described builds?

Having the "wrong" race, doesn't make a character totally useless. It is a minor part in the character build. But yes, a race is a factor in how viable a build is. But if you want to play an argonian for role playing purposes, don't worry and go ahead.

Not really. race does matter, but they are not making a toon totally useless. Also people know and understand that people switch roles. A build for levelling is very much different then a build for endgame. So people totally understand if you dont have the perfect class for your build. Further, it is a minor thing, so with personal skill you can totally make up for the dissadvantage.
