I'm curious...if I unsub and stop using my account, how long before it gets deleted?

Just curious, I am nearly finished the questing content, but i am still interested in seeing what dlc might be here in a few months. If I have to log in once in a while to keep my account from the bin, that no problem as long as I am aware of it.

I have never heard of someone's account being deleted.. Some people I know have left for months and then suddenly came back. Although might be a good idea to keep the client updated.. Or you could be waiting awhile on patches when you decide to play ;)

You never lose the characters unless of course the game closes down then we all lose access to the game. What's great about MMO's characters always there.

This is a good question. I don't know the answer, but I do know several people who unsubbed when the game was p2p, and came back months later after it went b2p and subs were no longer needed. Someone recently rejoined my guild who had been gone for almost a year, his former emp was still V10 because he stopped playing before they raised it. So it would seem you can go a good long time without logging in, but it would be nice to get an official answer.

Your characters will never be deleted for as long as the game is still running.

Standard mmo practice, and I have never heard of an exception.

Very occasionally some developers have deleted very low level characters that hadn't been played for a long time, just to clear their database. However, that was a long time ago and I can only think of it having happened once with EQ under SOE who gave masses of notice.

I certainly wouldn't worry about it, the nature of MMOs these days is that the accounts remain open regardless of whether you log in or not because they are not tied to active subscriptions if they are F2P/B2P.

Well Square Enix made it hard, if you didn't play in a long time characters would be moved to a backup server then you had to login request characters to be moved back. It was and is a pain, but then am not sure if they still practice that!

Also NCSOFT is only company I know that did delete players characters but I believe if it over a year old then account would be deleted along with characters. This is another am not sure if they changed that policy!

But staying on topic, no you will never lose characters as long as game is up and running. Or like it says when you agree to everything on login if by a miracle of God then yes it could happen, but that is like a trillion in 1 shot.
