EP Racial Motifs help

waterfall
waterfall
Hi guys, first post here. Asking this because most of the information I find seems to be outdated. I'm a level 16 on the Xbox one in the EP, and I don't like the argonian style of armour that I can craft (not sure why I chose argonian!). Could anyone enlighten me as to where would be best to try and find some of the common motifs for my level and alliance? I have all of the starter areas as well as shadowfalls, De'shaan, Cyrodil etc. hoping for some elvish ones as I use medium armour with a heavy headpiece.

Thank you!

Not sure what information you've read that you think outdated, I don't recall ZOS making any notable changes to drop patterns for these things, they simply nerfed some of the high-production hotspots a long time ago and especially at the time they added them to the Store: now THERE was a surprise. :(

Ancient Elf motifs are most likely to be found in the 4th and 5th faction zones and then Coldharbour I think, I've never seen them before those zones.

It's all from 1+ years ago so I assumed it would be outdated! Thanks for your reply, I more meant where should I personally go considering my faction and level in order to better my chances of finding a motif. Are cities still the way to go?

Your best bet for finding motifs are furniture (dressers, cabinets, etc.) in towns. Most of these will be owned, however, so you'll need to steal them. You can find any of the common alliance styles at any level in any zone. For EP, your best bet is Mournhold in Deshaan - check the Mage's and Fighter's Guilds, which have a lot of these kinds of containers. The bank has a decent number as well. Remember, these are all owned, so you will have to steal.

You won't find any of the rare purple motifs (Ancient Elf, Primal, Barbaric, Daedric) until you hit the veteran zones. You can, however, find Dwemer motif pages in the containers in any Dwemer ruin. The Imperial motif (gold) can be found in any zone at any level, but it is extremely rare.

Also, guild kiosks often have these for sale, if you've got some spare gold.

The above will show you all the styles at all the levels. I actually prefer mid level Argonian Medium on my female characters over any other racial style.

Anyway, the easiest way to get motifs is to buy them in the Guild Kiosks. They should sell for 300 or less each. If they are more, then leave them. (not sure on the console economy, so those prices might be higher)

As for stealing them, nothing wrong with that unless you get caught, but you can learn a stolen motif the same as a non stolen one. Just can't sell it or trade it. You can fence it, but better to Launder and sell in a Guild if you don't need it.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
