So as I said I wanted to share the experience of my first dungeon run on ESO. Back about Sunday I hit the level where I was high enough to even consider going to Spindleclutch (I am a sorcerer in the Daggerfall Covenant )and put myself in the group finder. Got into a group, but we were never able to find a fourth and I eventually gave up. Monday was about the same experience, put a post up on the forums and talked to a few people and tried the group finder. I disconnected a few times on Monday which I think put me back at the bottom on the queue. Got into one group but got bumped at the last minute so some buddy of the leaders could go (again not cool). Talked to a few others but wasn't able to get a group together. Tuesday I talked to some people all day and was in the group finder I think for about five hours with a few disconnects again before I got a group together. We died a bunch but got through and downed all the bosses. I had to step away right after and when I got back I had been disconnected again. When I returned I was outside Spindleclutch and had to go talk to the final NPC, but the dungeon and the quest had been reset. Got another group together in a few minutes but couldn't down the final boss. Finally today I got on, put myself in the group finder and spent about half an hour working on professions. Teleported out to Spindleclutch to wait and see if anyone showed up. Two minutes later I was invited to a group of two guys (one high level helping a buddy from the look of it). Got a fourth and half an hour later we had cleared it and were chatting outside.
A few observations now. First I really enjoy running dungeons and once I got groups together found Spindleclutch quite enjoyable. I like downing bosses and getting loot and working as a group and enjoy a challenge as well, and understand dying a bunch is a big part of dungeons. I have run dungeons on numerous other games (WOW, KOTOR, etc). However getting a group together was way too hard and took some of the fun out of it. Something needs to be done to make that a bit easier. Loot was not that great as well, a lot for Heavy Armor but hardly anything in three runs for light armor like myself. Don't know if that is just how the loot dropped or just how it is in there. The final quest reward should maybe be something selectable by the player with loot that works for your class and gear. I also didn't care for the fact that this was the better part of four days focus of my ESO time.
Finally a few tips for those putting groups together. Fastest way I found was to simply go stand outside Spindleclutch and I had groups together in just a few minutes. Also if you put a post up, you should share your level, class, damage, healer, dps, or tank. Also should post whether you are Xbox or PS4 or PC and Europe or NA and which Alliance and your gamertag. Lastly, if you are at level, you will need a proper group with a tank and healer.
So how does my experience compare to other peoples since ESO launched on console last week?
