Dragon Knight Leveling Tank/DPS build - Stamina (2H) or Magicka (Staff)?

Dreadbayne
Hi there!

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm leveling a Dragon Knight Tank primarly, but would like to be able to DPS when needed once reaching level 15. My concern is that Magicka determines the strength of your class abilities, yet tanking skills are determined (improved) by stamina (to my understanding).

So my first question is, do tanking Dragon Knight's go Stamina (2H/dual weild) to share the benefits of stamina, or do they go Magicka (staff most likely) to save stamina for their tanking abilities/dodges?

2nd question. Hmm, maybe I don't have a 2nd question now...

I know ESO is designed to be a bit more opened than other games but I don't want to make a silly hybrid that can't competently tank leveling content. Any help would be appreciated!

If you're a Dark Elf, I would take advantage of your passives and go magicka for soloing with a desto staff. And FYI, some of the skills in the Ardent Flame skill line can be morphed to scale off of stamina instead of magicka. This gives players more flexibility if they wanted to roll stamina builds. Though like I said, your best bet is magicka as your racial passives are better suited for that. Your Sword and Shield skills do go off stamina.

Your aim as solo tanking or tanking in general? Save your stamina for taunts and blocking and use your magicka for self heals (Dragon's Blood/Greens Dragon's Blood), crowd control, and utilities (dps too if you're solo).

The game gives you free reign on your build, but when it comes to "end game", some builds will obviously be better. When you're grouping for end game content and you want to tank, do just that. Go S/S on both bars and just worry about tanking, as there'll be other people DPS'ing. Hybriding isn't the way to go for PvE end game.

    Hope this helps. :)

I have a pvp dps/tank build I'm making right now. 1st bar 2h 2nd bad one hand and shield. Highly stamina based. I use 5 medium to get the passives but use heavy chest and legs for the most armor for my build. That being said I rely on rally from 2h and green dragon blood and flame lash alot for health.

    1st bar 2h
Unstable flame. Dot that bases from stamina I prefer over cleave or brawler.
Rally. 20% increase in weapons damage with heal tick and fishing heal (must have)
Critical rush. Gap closer and big damage dealer for players who run away from me.
Wrecking blow. Really a personal favorite massive damage and knock back and stun.
Executioner. Morph of reverse slash. Just a finisher move I spam when they have low health.

    2nd bar 1h and shield
Peirce armor. Lowers armor and spell resistance making this a valuable asset for groups.
Invasion. Another gap closer with increased stuns.
Flame lash. Cheap and easy, does great damage and apply a heal from enemies off balanced.
Green dragon blood. Huge increase in combat health and stamina regeneration. Really a mush have for this build to help with the fact you use so much stamina. You save a lot of potions using this.
Obsidian shield. I used to have spiked armor but there is a passive that increases your stamina for every Ally affected by earthen heart abilities.

I also am a ware wolf which gives me a 15% increase in stamina regeneration.

This build works for mw and what I do. It gives me high damage output while making me very difficult to kill. Have a nightblade with you for big execution style moves and a sorcerer for amazing debuffs and you have a very dangerous team in Cryodiil. Having a Templar with you makes the pair of you health and damage taking machines.

It may not be the perfect build or have the highest dps or tanking abilities but it is definitely a good combo and pvp build. I'll post a video here in the next couple of days to show you exactly how efficient and effective this can be.
